Ran over a motorcycle exhaust that dropped off the bike right in front of me. No time or space to take avoiding action plus in the split second I had to react I actually thought I would clear it.

It's punched a hole in the front underbody protection. Does not seem to have hit the battery cover but my question to anyone with mechanical knowledge of this car is do you think it will have damaged anything other than the cover?

I can't get it into a workshop for a couple of weeks so I'm sitting here thinking it could be just a new undertray (maybe £1k parts and labour??) or something a lot worse.

I punched a similar hole in my undercover on a driveway, which looked very similar to this. I was able to get it into my Porsche dealer pretty quickly to have them assess the car for any damage. Fortunately, there was none. But the hole did create an opportunity for water to get in between the undercover and the battery frame which I was not happy with. I elected to replace the undercover which cost me about $900 USD for parts and labor. I learned my lesson and I’m very cautious about driving over dips and bumps going forward. Good luck with this!

I did something very similar. The good news is that although there is a lot of coolant and A/C plumbing above that shield none of it is very close. Your damage does not look like it went very deep so you should be fine. Replacing that cover is nothing more than 10 bolts. Easy to take care of yourself if you have access to a lift.

Had a similar experience on a 911. Those fibrous covers are cheap, like $300. Worth it to swap them out IMO and the tech can eyeball the guts while doing it.

I wouldn’t claim insurance for this personally, not worth a bad carfax.

I suggest doing something to plug the hole prior to dealer repair/personal repair. I personally don't want water where it shouldn't be.

Thanks for the comments guys.
Yeah not looking to claim on insurance as have a £1k excess. It’s a £130k car so figure anything under that I pay myself but if it’s knackered the battery (I don’t think it has) then that’s a different story.
I’m away in London and then Venice via trains and planes so it’s sitting on the drive. Booked in for my return.
In related news the NC500 was outstanding in this car. Could really let the car sing on some of the quiet roads in Northern Scotland. Two nights at Glenmorangie House was the icing on the cake and came home with a bottle of the Harrison Ford special edition which is sold out everywhere online.
Just watch out for old German motorcycles!
