Buyers of the fan-favorite Porsche 911 model are. often between 46 and 65 years old, with the average age being 52. The Porsche Boxster, on the other hand, is often bought by persons who are 47 years of age or fall between 36 and 55 years of age.

Is one I've seen in a number of different places. So over 50 I guess would qualify as "older" folk ;)

But it makes sense since older folk are often much more financially secure. On the other hand, virtually every young person I've interacted with that has seen my car has commented on how they hope they'll be able to buy a car like that someday.
I take offense!! We are not "older folks"!

Those of us over 50 are elderly folks. At least that's what my granddaughter says.

If you are over 50 you can call us elderly folks. At least that's what my granddaughter says.
Our daughter just loved to keep quoting her cousin several years ago that, "When you turn 50, that's when you get old."
Even worse was when the pandemic hit, and older people were said to be especially at risk.
Whew, I can keep worrying about my elderly mother and aunt, but I'm okay!
Then I saw that "old" was defined as 50+, ugh!
(I took a "covid age" on-line calculator and was relieved to see that I maxed out -- in a good way -- in every category, but that still put me in my late 40s.)

Fortunately, now that I'm 56, our daughter compliments me (I think?), with the line of, "Even though you're old, Daddy, you adapt to new things."

Such as the 4CT perhaps.
Which I took on a short test drive yesterday.
(Thereby bringing this thread back on topic...)

The drawback of this particular used MY22 was only theoretical, since I'm not replacing my 2022 Audi A6 Allroad until CCS DCFC improves (either via access to those ~12k Tesla V3 250kW Superchargers, an even less probable sudden reliability improvement of EA, and/or an even further less probable rapid expansion of some other networks' chargers in New England in the near term).

But I love my (wife's) BMW i4 M50 so much (and I love my wife too, just for the record!).
And the 4CT is just so perfect on paper (and in video reviews).
Plus I just happened to be driving right by the dealer.

However, although this 4CT was nicely equipped, with lots of options that I consider niceties yet necessities, it was missing ...
... HUD.

On the drive there, the i4 had projected onto the windshield my speed, the speed limit, ADAS settings, occasional warning messages (e.g., uneven road surface), music/Audible controls, phone controls, and nav (with an especially impressive display of the different lanes, which lane I should be in, which lane I was in, and an animated graphic intended to nudge me into the intended lane if I wasn't already there).
As would my A6ar.

Perhaps the original owner who paid ~$130k just doesn't care for any of that, and perhaps the dealer will find someone willing to pay the initial asking price of $110k (w/ ~21k miles).

But the Porsche customization is such a double-edged sword: great for being able to place a build order for *exactly* what you want, but not so good for finding a buyer via a private seller.
Hence the big used price differential in retail vs wholesale.
(By contrast, both our Audi and BMW offered very little in customization aside from adding on all the packages, while omitting the upgrade sound system since we're not audiophiles and it would have intruded on precious cargo space for the BMW and deleted the spare for the Audi. I found the A6ar at a dealer last summer, and it was essentially the same as what I had been about to get -- eventually -- by placing a deposit on a dealer's allocation wait list. The i4 was built to my spec, but if I hadn't gotten an allocation immediately and the car three months later, True Car had plenty of listings with real availability at MSRP for the same thing.)

I’m looking at Taycan turbos because of the depreciation. They’re really good value for the spec now.

I thought future value estimates for the Taycan were optimistic but I never expected this.

4 door saloons (st isn’t very practical either) the size of a Range Rover never hold their value.

The Taycan is a older guys car. Target audience is too narrow and Porsche flooded the market at launch.

Now business leases are ending, the supply/demand pendulum has swung the other way.
Hmm the older guys car caught me off guard lol. I’m 22 and I’m loving the car, now I’m questioning my age xD

My boot is occupied by the massive charger that came with the car. I work in tech ;)

……I think you’re all getting/are old, as you have strayed that far from the thread subject that it’s going to take more than a seniors bus pass to get you back on subject…….. ?

For the record, age is but a concept of the mind, your only as old as you feel?

I am pretty content with my 4S, I bought it used but not at the steep steep discounts today, only mild discount. If they do a new model and I love it in 2027 I will order a Turbo and one of my kids can take the 2020 4S. I don’t think the beauty or drivability of the car will be much different. The best cure for depreciation I think is not having to realize it. This is the most enjoyable vehicle I have owned.

all that said and to talk out of both sides of my mouth…if an amazing spec used Turbo (with 20 inch wheels) showed up at the right price I would trade up likely haha
