I have a 2022 RWD. Just received a notice from Porsche that I’m entitled to the software upgrade. my dealer is not close by, and I have to wait at the dealership for about two hours for them to apply the update. I’ve already got the latest PCM so I’m questioning whether I really need to get this update, or just wait for the next one. Powertrain update is for all wheel drive, therefore not applicable to me. thermal management says that it’s intended to benefit Molly years 2021 and 2020, so again not applicable to me. Assistance systems and unlocking functions, they are of no interest to me.

what do you think? Should I skip it which would be way more convenient?

Which update do you need? If it's WNK1, I just had it done on mine a couple weeks ago and cannot notice any difference in driveability or features before and after. FWIW - it took my dealer 2 days to do it.

I don’t know, the notice from Porsche doesn’t tell which update it is. How do I find out?

Use the NHTSA link I posted or search "NHTSA recall" in your favorite search engine, then enter your 17-digit VIN and the NHTSA site will tell you if there are any open recalls.

If you do not have an open safety recall, then there's nothing to worry about.

You can also login to porsche.com, the portal will tell you if you have a recall on the car.

But I would want to do the update, since part of the update is also updating the system to handle OTA updates in the future. It might be a pain to get the update done, but look at this way, any update in the future will then be in your garage/driveway.

You can also just call your service department, and they will be able to look up your VIN and tell you which update your car requires.

One tidbit worth noting - I did have two random instances of the car shifting into N or P while driving in the first couple of weeks after I took delivery. I mentioned this to my SA, and he said that this was one of the things that WNK1 (and probably all the other flavors of the current update) was supposed to address. I have not observed the car doing this since the SW update, but it's only been a couple of weeks and happened so infrequently prior to the update that I can't (yet) say with confidence that the problem has been solved.

i’m wondering if anybody who received this update has reported problems and glitches afterwards.
I had a weird situation with CarPlay after the update, but after reading the forums here, I deleted and readded my phone and I made a switch to the Taycan Wi-Fi from my IPhone…the car was selecting the Taycan Wi-Fi instead of my 5G network basically rendering Carplay inactive…that’s all that I can report…it’s been working flawlessly since those changes. They had my car several days for the ANA6 update FWIW.

My dealer has my car for a windshield replacement. They told me today that that the ANA6 and AMB5 updates are on hold due to high failure rates on installs so they don't want to do it on my car until Porsche gets their act together.

Yes that's the one we've all been talking about and is also referred to as 'uPdate'. For all model years to bring up to MY23 software spec (current). There is a full section on the forum about it which details it but it's a non brainer - you need it!

Depending on MY of your car it could be called WJN8 (MY21) but this and other campaign references are encapsulated in uPdate.
