Just curious for those who have sold or purchased used Taycan's, does the Porsche Mobile Charger Plus come with it? I'm selling mine, and it seems to make sense to include it with the car - however, a dealer I just spoke with said if it's not on the window sticker, it doesn't need to be included. Thoughts?

This is part of Standard Equipment, listed under E-Mobility section, and should be included with the car.

That's what I was thinking too, thanks. I remember 2020's might have not been coming with it though? I remember some people were paying for the charger at one point right around when I got my 2021. I remember not even knowing if it would come with it hmm.

in 2020 it was a mandatory option - i got my dealer to provide the charger but back out the cost / I would include it with the sale just to get rid of the shotty charger - it’s not like I’d want to keep it to use with other EVs - opportunity to wave goodbye to it - give it away with the car!

if you need an EV charger there are better alternatives

this for example is just one possible excellent alternative

Yup, I agree. Just wanted to get a pulse on what others were doing. No reason keeping the charger, especially since it now charges at 50% of the speed lol. I'm going to try out the electric G-Wagon (arriving in a few weeks) - curious to see what kind of charger Mercedes provides.

Yeah definitely no need to keep it but does yours stay at 50% even after you switch it to 100%. When I got mine back from the dealer for the cable recall it started charging at 50%. I changed it to 100% and it stayed at that level on the next test. It’s in the closet now so not sure what it’d charge at now but think full power.

I couldn't get it to charge at 100%, but also didn't need it to - I drive 100 miles/week. I'm OKAY with slow charging overnight once a week.

If you want to be nice you should include it. But there is no obligation to sell the car with any component, specced as part of standard equipment or otherwise.

No different than, say, removing the 6 CD changer from the trunk of your E39 M5 and then selling the car to someone else….cars for all of time have been bought and sold on an “as-is” basis.

Now, I certainly wouldn’t agree with misrepresenting what the buyer was receiving, but you’re free to sell the car with or without anything, a motor/engine included! The price you can expect to receive will of course be greatly impacted by such an exclusion.

Ehh. I'm good to sell whatever I have in the car, with the car. That means both sets of matts, accessories, etc.. I get that I can NOT include them and probably not get any less of a price, but rather not play any games lol. Charge was just a new one for me - especially with the dealership I spoke with telling me they didn't need/want it lol

I just bought a CPO 2021 a few weeks ago and it did come with it. I might have been concerned if it did not have it. I actually have never used it yet because I have free charging, but after reading these comments, it sounds like I should just leave it in the frunk! I will have to do some research on what is so bad about it because I would imagine there are probably several threads about that already.

https://www.taycanforum.com/forum/t...uide-to-the-porsche-evse-pmc-pmcc-pwcc.13886/

summary:
  • it had thermal issues - very high nominal operating temperatures - Porsche was notified about this in Aug. of 2020 w/data - they choose to ignore it
    • there was one official response where in 2020 they recommended only using at 32 amps to avoid any high operating temperatures
  • porsche wouldn't admit fault - blame the victim
  • it's big/heavy/bulky - seriously it's a moible EVSE and it's not all that mobile.
  • it's wicked expensive vs. competition if not included with the vehicle ($3200 or more to buy a 2nd one for a vacation home for example)
  • customer support is non-existent if you have issues - seriously Porsche has NO idea how to support these bricks if you have a problem - dealers/techs have no clue - and 1-800-Porsche custromer support will take your question and then provide no response - after that it disappears into a black hole.
  • it doesn't always work well with other EV's - it can not complete a charge session on my son's Model Y - other vehicle brands also have problems charging from it - Porsche has been non-responsive to feedback about this.
  • at one point Porsche nerf'd it and lowered the charging rate by 50% overnight to address the thermal issues
    • then they unnerf'd it and pretended they didn't do that
  • eventually they issued a recall and suggested you stop using it - and then suggested people buy a non-Porsche EVSE - but for 4 years dealers spouted non-sense about using non-Porsche chargers voiding the battery warranty
  • the recalled cables have only recently become available - but are in very very short supply
  • it would tend to overheat/shutdown during summer months depending on ambient conditions leading to unreliable charging
in the mean time there are numerous alternatives for $700 or less that have virtually no issues and "just work" and offer better customer support.

I sold 2 cars during the pandemic - a 2016 Chevy Volt back to the dealer I bought it from and a 2018 Tesla Model 3 Performance to a Toyota dealer. Both places specifically asked me if the mobile charger (EVSE) was included with the car. I brought both cars to Carmax to get an offer and even Carmax asked whether the mobile charger was with the car. All three places said they decrease the offer if the charger (EVSE) was not included. This is in Northern CA..

I'm guessing that the "junk drawer" in your kitchen is full of old chargers for personal electronic devices long forgotten. If you don't have a Porsche EV, why would want a Porsche EV charger?

Pull it out of the frunk. It serves no useful purpose and adds weight to the car:p
