Has anyone noticed paint flaking? My mission E wheels are all gloss black. Noticed this the other day and its obviously not on the face of the wheel so hasn't been curbed...

I know some have had paint issues but wondered how people had got on?

Doesn't look like flaking to me - looks like you touched up against something.

You can give Lepsons a call: https://www.lepsons.com/
My Porsche Indy (Jaz) is based North of London but shipped my wheels all the way down there for refurb. Gotta be doing something right!

Else perhaps try calling one of the other south/ London-area Porsche specialists (JZM, Portiacraft, RPM Technik..) and see where they send their clients’ GT3 RS wheels after they’ve nicked the wall at Silverstone. ;)
Lepsons do a good job for me, not too much money and are just small enough to take care.

3 weeks after getting my MY2020, I curbed my wheel for the first time (Mission E).

Felt a pit in my stomach as I was sure I was in for a big bill.

Took it to the dealer, and he outsourced the repair to a tire refurb company that stops by the dealership every day to pick up wheels.

The cost was $200 Cdn, and it looks brand new.

Did it a second time 4 weeks later and the same process.

I'm getting better as I haven't curbed them again (10 months).

I'm in Toronto, Canada.

Good luck.

I had one rear Mission E wheel curbed on November 1st. Called my Porsche dealership for a appointment on November 8. The wheel went to a smart repair shop they have partnership with and went back the next day repaired for 350 Euros (I guess I would have paid 100 less calling them directly). But Meanwhile the dealer had time to apply the WPN8 recall.
The stormtrooper is now back home quite happy but let's hope the starship pilot will avoid the curb next time.

Before and after. Result is 95% spot on.

Supposedly all Porsche dealers have been instructed not to refurb any wheels. I have spoken to three different dealerships around London all giving me the same response. See if your local Porsche dealer has a different view, it’s bizarre..
Too bad because the Porsche Wheel and tires insurance is promoting repair before the change for obvious reasons. Weird!

Unfortunately, I am in the curbed wheel company, my heart dropped, the moment I knew the thump from right rear as I went too wide before going into a roundabout. Now the long journey begins on how to fix it, so looking for forum's help in the US with options listed below the picture.
Porsche Taycan Don’t curb the wheels!! RR ME Ice Grey

Option 1 - Repair/Repaint: I have full Wheel/Tire coverage and took it to dealer, who sent me to their collision, they said they repair and paint curb damage like this all the time and will look like new, I do not believe it. This will not cost me anything, but at the time I bought this coverage, the pitch was that they replace any damaged wheel with a new one. I will wait to hear from Collision to see coverage company approved, most likely a repair as they suggest.

Option 2 - New Wheel that must be Painted: The issue is that my wheels are in body color of Ice Grey, so I can source a new wheel, SunCoast said around $2k before taxes in 10 business days, but a body shop still needs to paint the Ice Grey elements, so that will still not be Factory.

Option 3 - Find Factory Wheel in Ice Grey: ThIs seems to be a long shot and almost impossible to get or find specifically a Factory painted Mission E in Ice Grey. However, if anyone has a way to get one or a set of all 4, I would be open to getting it.

That doesn't look that bad, to be honest.

I would just repair it.

You should see my curb rashes compared to yours.

I'm waiting a bit longer to get them repaired but to be honest, it bothers me less and less the more I dirve the car.

Option 2 is the same as option 1 : the main risk in the repair process is not being able to match the factory paint. So I would eliminate option 2 and stick with option 1.

This is where I am with my repair.

1. Jacked up the car on both jack points in the rear. Removed wheel myself and took it to resurface place, which is a dealer owned and branded collision and auto detail place.
2. Resurfacing took 2 days while the car stood on the rear jacks. They did a great job but not perfect in 2 spots, but not complaining as you can only see it close up. TPMS sensor was not compromised and worked as expected, since typically any wheel repair damages the sensors for me in the past.
3. Put wheel back and torqued to spec.
4. Alignment check came back with that side RR out of alignment at -1.12 vs [-1.45 to -1.15] in alignment range. Wondering how significant is 0.03 is in alignment. Then LF came in out of alignment at 0.02 vs range of [0.03 to 0.08] so it is off by 0.01.
5. Alignment correction takes 8 hours to perform and potentially replacement of the entire rear steering gear, but not exactly sure if this is because of the RWS option. This needs to be scheduled for a full day and I do not even want to think about the cost.

The journey continues...

The lesson here is exactly the point of this thread, do not curb your wheels!

How can alignment take 8 hours? Who designs cars like this!

It's because you need to remove the bumpers sadly.

Fingers crossed, i'll never need it. My alignment has been solid since delivery.

I’m gutted, curbed my wheel last week and thought it would be a quick alloy refurb through Porsche at a cost of c. £150 max. Spoke to my dealership and they said we cannot refurb these wheels, it needs replacing! Literally a light scrape, I cannot justify replacing the wheel at a cost of over £1k ! Has anyone else curbed the mission E wheels and if so any similar feedback from the dealer?

Sounds like nonsense. I had a similarly miniscule scrape in a factory painted Mission E wheel, and the Porsche dealer fixed it up perfectly, covered by my (overpriced I am sure) Porsche wheel/windshield/door ding insurance. They picked up the car, fixed the wheel, and dropped it back at my house. This was, however, the US not the UK. But a geography change certainly does not change the physics/mechanics of a wheel scrape.
