Hi all

I have the Porsche front and rear dash cams installed. The cameras record to on a video file that combines both front and rear footage. This is fine when you are viewing by the Dashcam app, however on a desktop you can only view the front camera footage when you view the file via VLC. That being the case I thought I would export the rear footage via the app. However there appears to be no option to export the rear footage. Is this the case or am I being stupid and overlooking an option? If anyone has the cameras installed (both) can you please explain how to export the rear cameras footage.

Thanks in advance

Usually there are 2 files with almost identical names ending with A or b, or F or R. Dashcam software on your computer usually recognizes them and lets you watch them together and customize the layout. I have no idea what the naming scheme is on the Porsche dashcam but it’s almost certainly similar. Often it’s easier to pop out the SD car and read it directly with your computer than to transfer files by the app on your phone.

FYI… the dashcam software I prefer on my computer is called Dashcam Viewer. The developer is super responsive.

Thanks for the response but it is one file. If you google you will see that many other dash cams do the same. I have viewed every file on the SD and there are no rear view files, and yes I have checked the sub directories, hence I started googling and posting here. Again thanks

All dash cam products record each channel independently on the storage drive. The playback software can load multiple channels at once. Often times the software has a feature to export multiple channels into a single file (or you can use a desktop capture/recording tool.

Plus if you view the file on VLC you can select the two different video channels, but you can't save the second channel.

I think the Porsche cam is the same as the Audi UTR. If that is the case then the front and rear are captured in a single file, as you say. The only viewer I can find to look at the file, other than via the phone app, is VLC and you can see front and/or rear views via the 'video' menu item and then 'video track' on the drop down. Both front and rear are saved together in the same file and can be viewed together or separately via the VLC app, but I can't find a way to separate them as two files, but as you can see both, then perhaps its doesn't matter. It's a pity only VLC will work.

It is the exact same camera as the Audi UTR which I have previously owned and is the reason I tell everyone not to buy it! For the price, it is an incredibly poor piece of kit.

Hi, new member here.

I had the F/Rear Porsche dash cam fitted by my OPC and I have no rear camera file to view, the front and parking views are great, I use the SD card in a reader via my PC to view.

Just need the rear view!!

I have VLC showing both tracks as separate streams which I can toggle between. The only problem is when the stream seamlessly switches from one file to the next (every minute) the one from the rear view camera is lost anf has to be re-selected from the View drop-down. Does anyone know how to stop this happening? Thanks.
