Driving with no key?

My wife dropped me off and drove off in our Taycan without the key (it was in my pocket). Surprising, she made it about 5 miles to our house with lots of console messages about a missing key but otherwise no problem. Didn't think this would work but glad it did.

I’ve always wondered what would happen in my Taycan (or pretty much any car) if once en route you tossed the fob out the window. And now I know!

This happened with my Subaru. My dad was going to take the car to the store while we setup the camp site … I started the car while I was taking a bike off the roof (with the key in my pocket).. he drove off after I took the bike off and went back to camper … I had to get a ride to store in town to bring him the key when we realized he couldn’t start the car or find the key.

As soon as the car is set to “P”, you won’t be able to drive it off. It’ll be reporting about a missing key and won’t let you drive it. Though, everything else will be operating

For safety reasons cars with keyless don't just lock up when the key is missing. But as soon as it's stopped you can't move it further.

Yeah, it would suck immensely if the car would stop in the middle of the highway just because the batteries in the fob were low.
