Electrical System Fault + 12V?

Just saw this, rumour 12v battery fix!

It would be, umm, ironic if an OTA update (WRW1) designed to help remedy 12v battery discharges (or for any other purpose) is actually causing them....

My understanding is that WRW1 is not visible to US dealers. I asked.

Part of the problem of the Taycan (and legacy auto more generally) is that’s there’s just way too many discrete ECU, controllers, buses and complexity in general.

I won’t mention the T word or the E word ? - but looking elsewhere it seems VW if they’re serious and carry through may be able to learn and leverage some stuff here with their circa $6 billion investment in Rivian.

US dealers have been notified about the WRW1 campaign. Apparently some VINs receive it OTA, and others during a visit to dealer service.

Confusingly, my car announced a software update and the description was around the HV battery monitoring (although it was not as clear as that). Then when I approved installing it, I was shown a different screen which ALSO included WRW1 which we believe is for the 12V battery.

Whether it is actually updating or not is hard to tell because the screen went blank as soon as I opened the door.
