I can cope with something like that.
Especially since it's not specific to the Taycan, so I can bring it a few blocks away from my house to the Porsche indie -- he's not cheap, but at $149/hr, he's less than 1/2 the dealership, and I trust his workmanship better.
If I recall correctly that was for parts alone. Besides, my point being that just one thing that goes wrong almost already pays for itself. Although I have never purchased an extended warranty before so not sure if that would have been considered regular wear and tear and thus is excluded

^ Agreed with your main point, i.e., even just one relatively modest repair (by Taycan standards) could more than offset the entire service plan cost.

Meanwhile, after not hearing back from my service advisor, the dealer business manager, and the dealer general sales manager, I tried an email address yesterday for upper management of some sort for the larger auto group, said upper manager sharing the same surname as the auto group.

Sure enough, just like when nobody would get back to me from the dealership regarding my inquiry in fall 2023 for the heater replacement, this prompted an immediate call back this morning.
So perhaps I will soon be able to post the details for the service plan they sell from Zurich...

So now the business manager called me, after being told to do so by the auto group sales director, after he was notified by the auto group upper level management/ownership guy I contacted after being ghosted previously by the very same business manager.

He said their service writers are comfortable dealing with Safe-Guard, and that authorizations are easy.
His confidence was undermine to some extent when he kept making it sounds like the Safe-Guard plan is just an extension of the factor warranty.
But still, given that Porsche is lending its name to the branding of the Safe-Guard plan, and given that the independently owned Porsche dealerships all broker these plans, I think that bodes well for not getting stuck in the middle of fights between Porsche dealerships and Safe-Guard about covering some major repair cost.

(This particular dealership had quotes higher than some others, but I gave them my best quote, so we'll see if they're into price matching.)

Now wait, you might be thinking, wasn't the previous post about how this dealership uses Zurich, not Safe-Guard, as indicated on the Hoffman Porsche website?
Yes, about a year ago the auto group switched over to selling Zurich service plans.
But they still sell the Porsche-branded Safe-Guard plans.
(Even though the Porsche dealership website has Zurich info copied over from their other dealership websites.)

So after we'd been chatting about the Safe-Guard for awhile, I asked about a quote for a comparable Zurich plan.
With a lead-in to the effect about I didn't want that, the price is approximately ...
THIRTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS!

So my negotiating tactic of asking if they could match another dealer resulted in their ... matching the other dealer exactly, so savings of about a grand.
Will be interesting to see if my $4,782 -- for $250 deductible, coverage out to 100k miles, and seven years from in-service, although six might have sufficed -- will pay off.
What I would really like is a plan with something like a $1,000 deductible. Even $2k or $3k. Or $5k!

^ Thanks, I did look at that plan, but the prices were roughly comparable (ditto re Fidelity), and I'm hoping (correctly?!?) that the Porsche-branded plan from Safe-Guard will be less of a hassle for authorizations, especially since the Porsche dealership seems to have a decent track record with them (and at least can't feign ignorance or shock at the existence of such a third party).
