If optioning your Taycan with the front end ppf, it is installed by PCNA (if in US)

I was curious if they edge wrap the panels or if edges are exposed, so I contacted them and they sent me pics.

How does this look to y’all? Is this acceptable or would I be better off using some other shop for the install?

That looks like a template and no rolled (hidden) edges. I certainly wouldn't accept that - my PPF installer removed mirrors, door handles, side markers etc to make sure they could roll the edges. There are places they can’t do that - but no reason not to in the shots you showed.

I’ve warned about this in multiple threads here in respect going with the factory PPF option and having no rolled edges - you get what you ordered (understand you may not have been aware but like all such things you need to ask).- personally just not an option for me.

no, this is not acceptable and is done poorly.
A proper PPF job should be installed like 1cm extra over (hidden under) the edge.

After reading a number of different threads I decided to go with the factory PPF (front) from Porsche. Once my car arrives, the beginning of April is the current estimate, I'll post an update. It does come with a 10-year warranty and my dealer is a multi-manufacturer (Audi/Porsche/Acura/VW) dealer with a large, and pretty good, customization shop. So I'm confident they can address any issues that might come up.

Worst case scenario is I replace the film at some point. I do plan on having the entire car ceramic coated once it arrives.

that looks awful! Agree with sentiment from others that there are certain things (like this) that you do not want to outsource to the dealer.

i wouldn't go for the factory ppf. you can definitely get a better job at the same price point with a local installer, or with your local dealer.

i also think there are better quality ppf films than 3M.

i'm picky, but if i received what was pictured by OP i would be having it redone.

i just had my wife's 4S fully wrapped

All pre cut PPF films will not have rolled edges.
Food for though - once a PPF installer removes the exterior accessories they never go back together like stock. You will always have rattles, broken tabs clips etc.
True story PPF installer wrapped the sides skirts and was putting them back on and punctured a coolant line due to one of the screws being over torqued.

Thanks y’all. I’ve decided to skip the ppf installed by Porsche!

Is there any way to get edge wrapped without panels needing to be removed? I’m only wrapping the front half if that matters. I agree that removing panels results in higher chance of rattles/creaks and would love to avoid that if possible.

My installer did a perfect job wrapping over all the edges without removing a single thing. It IS possible. Where he couldn't wrap over, he would get it to within less than 1mm of the edge. My job is completely invisible for all intents and purposes. It is not necessary to dismantle any part of the car.

Yes I have most of my edges rolled and no trim was removed. Of course there are certain areas that couldn't be rolled and therefore it's cut. But with a good installer you shouldn't be able to tell. I often stare at my PPF from like 6 inches away and I always wonder if I got scammed as I can't tell at all if the film is there!

That factory PPF is only worth it if they charged half the priced!

Mine did remove door handles, charging port covers, side markers, hood badge (I opted for no emblem so that could be added after film) and wing mirrors. I have not had any issues with squeaks or issues (but theses guys do a lot of high end and other Porsche cars - this is my third Porsche they did). I did have to have my mirrors reprogrammed for LCA as it trigged the warning (which was expected).
