Front Cooling Fan Protection

I have read several times about the front cooling (battery) fans getting damaged/blocked by road debris - does anyone know of an aftermarket solution to this in terms of some form of grate to install in the air intakes in the bumper?

I had that issue and Porsche simply replaced them with the new version going on the J1.2 as they knew it was a real problem. Apparently the new fans are immune to this problem. This was done under my warranty at no cost. In fact this issue caused me a red electrical error screen! Thanks

The ZunSport meshes protect the radiators, not the fans. The debris that gets into the fan comes from the wheel well side. Updated fans and shrouds came out in a TSB around end of 2023. Recommended to check fan rotates freely every few months with a chop stick and the respective wheel turned all the way inward. If seized the car knows the fan isn’t spinning (err code) but inexplicably does not warn the owner!

Yes....its why Taycan owners pay a premium to own such an engineering marvel.

So your neighbours can watch you every month having to prod round the front of it with a chopstick to check if things are still working.......before it dissapears off to the dealers for a few weeks again.


Its all part of the Taycan ownership experience.

Just got the car back after a rattling noise by the right fan (in driving direction).
They did load new software for the fan (?) and cleaned it.
Under warranty.

Haha, I was about to reply to that same post.

I can understand why the owner is not warned cuz when you're driving you still have sufficient cooling.
But indeed, you should be informed instantly.
