Am I right in thinking the half-price Ionity charging on a new Taycan is for 3 years, not 12 months?

I stopped at Ionity today and tapping my Porsche RfiD card didn’t activate as normal and I was left to pay full price using the Ionity app

Have I missed something?!

You need to renew the contract every 12 months. It is free until 3 years. But you have to confirm it in the app every year. I think you could have done it on the spot with the app.

Thanks - when I got home I contacted Porsche customer services by email and within a short period I received a short email reply indicating that my Porsche Charging service contract was inactive, so I’ve now reactivated it.

Given it is free, I have no idea why it doesn’t simply auto renew at the end of years one and year!

You are correct I could have done this at the time, but I just wanted to get some charge and move on (and obviously I hadn’t appreciated what the issue was), but at least I will remember for next year!

Thanks for your helpful response!

I had the same issue last when I tried to charge up 2 days after my Porsche service contract lapsed - they confessed that they had failed to send me out a reminder that I needed to renew it and i hadn't thought about it as I was just coming to the end of 2nd anniversary, not the 3rd ann when I knew the Ionity rate was stopping.

Good old Porsche .................

On a separate note I got the brake hose recall campaingn letter on Mon and immediately contacted my local OPC dealership to book it in - the earliest date was early Oct. Is everyone else having to wait over 2 months ?

Coincidentally I was also told October for the brake recall issue - I have asked them to try and find an earlier slot as I’m am taking the car to France later this month.

i think this is precautionary, rather than an immediate safety concern.
