Hankook Ion I*cept experiences?

Does someone has experience with the Hankook Ion I*cept winter tyre? Can't seem to find much.
I need to buy some new 20" winter tires. I will barely drive in any snow so mostly wet and some ice.

I was thinking about one of those:

• Michelin pilot alpin 5
• Continental Wintercontact ts 870 p
• Hankook Ion I*cept

I have had a good experience with Nokian Hakkapeliitta R5, still have those on my winter set.
I went with the "SUV" version instead of the "EV" version because it is not as "low resistance", meaning it has more actual usable thread depth and is better in the snow.

The EV variant does have some foam inside for more sound deadening, but in my experience the SUV version was also very quiet.

The price is about the same.

Nokian Hakkapeliitta R5 best for winter. Had these on my previous cars and thet are best winters tire I used. Get them you won't regret. I have EV version and they r perfect.

Up here in the north where I live, winter tyres (with or without studs) are mandatory in winter when driving in winter conditions. The car magazines therefore conduct tests every year. One of them published a test on friction less than a month ago. The Hankook tyre is among the tested and was rated just above Chinese low price tyres (i. e. cheap crap). The list is:
1. Continental VikingContact 8
2. Pirelli Ice Friction
3. Goodyear UltraGrip Ice 3
4. Nokian Hakkapelitta R5 SUV
5. Michelin X-Ice Snow SUV
6. Nordman North RS3 SUV
7. Hankook Winter i*cept IZ3 X
8. Maxtrek Trek M7 Plus (Warning)

Personally I would avoid Hankook as it scored substantially worse than the top 4. The test crew mentioned in particular that they are noisy and have bad grip in curves on ice.

That's not the Ion but an older one.

I can't compare with Continental or Hankook in terms of noise, range, longevity or price: they did the job, ie handling well in such conditions

How would you rate the noise from the PA5, driving on wet highways? Comparable to other european-type winter tyres?

If you want to stay on officially approved for Taycan tyres – I found the Pirelli PZero NF0 tyres to be excellent – even in the arctic conditions of Tromsø, Norway in winter. Okay, not as good as nordic tyres there – but much more balanced for the wet/cold/ice weather I tend travelling in Belgium, Germany and here in Ireland.

I was surprised by how good they were.

How would you rate the noise from the PA5, driving on wet highways? Comparable to other european-type winter tyres?

a) It is illegal to have summer tyres in winter in any of the Nordic countries.
b) Driving with summer tyres in snow or cold temperatures is basically suicide, as besides the fact that they have no grip at all on snow or ice, they also do not function below freezing temperature on straight up tarmac, as the rubber gets very hard.

I think you are mixing something up. There is no grip at all even with a southern European "winter" tyre in the nordics, never mind a UHP tyre like the PZero, with which you get wheelhop already when it's below 10C outside until you warm it up.

On my third winter with the Pirelli Scorpion Winter tyres. Drives mostly along the coast line but frequent trips to the mountains of southern Norway: ice, snow, asphalt and everything in between. No issues.

Which European winter tyres you have had on your Taycan, that made it behave like no grip?

Indeed it is and I was impressed with how well it performed in arctic Norway on the many trips I've taken there in this tyre. Never even coming close to having to use the snow chains that we also carried.

Pirelli Scorpion is a nordic winter tyre. Not the best one of course, but it has a soft compound designed for sub zero temperatures at least, so it does not become super slippery.

The problem is with central european tyres.

Indeed it is and I was impressed with how well it performed in arctic Norway on the many trips I've taken there in this tyre. Never even coming close to having to use the snow chains that we also carried.

In which case most likely it was not very cold, as these central european compounds essentially turn to complete glass at -10C and there is no grip on tarmac. Not suitable for the nordic.
