Hate for electrics saddens me.

Suncoast posted some great spy photos on Facebook of the E-Boxster being charged.
I was excited as I'm eager to switch back to a 2 door with open roof ASAP.

What I was not excited for was the near universal outpouring of disgust, hate, and overall negative vitriol from fellow Porsche enthusiasts.

I honestly can't go back to ICE, no matter how much I love some of Porsche's ICE products (especially my old Targa 4S).
I can't give up the EV convenience, power, torque, cost to run and maintain.
It would be like going back to a Motorola RAZR after using an iPhone.

If you switch out of it in the near future your cost to run will be much higher than had you purchased an ICE car because of the larger depreciation of BEV over ICE in recent time. But, I am with you, I have my eyes on the C8 Z06 and 2024 Cayenne Turbo GT but can't get over the thought of going back to ICE.

I don't get hate for EV's over here, but there is a huge lack of knowledge and a lot of disinformation about them in the UK. Right wing newspapers/media run a load of awful stories with badly researched or totally false claims and it really does influence people.

The oil industry spent over a billion dollars on lobbying and spreading disinformation after the Paris climate accord. They are still at it.

Ignorant people are easily swayed.

It reminds me of the successful disinformation from the fag companies when it became clear smoking was very bad for health.

Ignorant angry plonkers believing bollox isn’t new.

Absolutely not, but the abandonment of 'experts' in the political discourse in recent years has meant that it's even worse now, combined with so many people being 'Facebook experts'. Embarrassing tbh

From an EV standpoint, we have to keep in mind that Taycan is the exception not the rule...especially when it comes to driving enthusiasts. I am not surprised that most people dont get it. I had to drive one to become a believer.

I still want an ICE 911 but not as a daily driver. I think its EV for daily use for me from here on out.

Same in the US.
I wonder how much is related to high initial cost and hence a jealously factor?
I expect that will be the case when we reach the point that ICEs are no longer an option, but at the moment I get the impression that most people who don't want to incur the purchase cost of an EV are happy to just ignore the EV option, whereas many people who could afford an EV are put off by such things as lack of charging infrastructure and concern that they'd be investing in immature (In the sense of still evolving rapidly in comparison with ICE) technology. In itself, that's more "reluctance to adopt" rather than hating, though the 2 conditions aren't mutually exclusive.

Maybe.
My speculation is however that people in their hearts know that a lot of EVs are premium and faster. Hence are jealous.

We get the same disinformation here, usually some of these talking points.

Actually a handful of these "talking points" are actually a thing so for you to dismiss them from your side of the argument makes you no better than them.

We have both, always will, and I completely understand each type of vehicles strong and weak points. I don't understand why it has to be an either/or........

I think a lot of the "religion" between the two viewpoints is actually fueled by the EV community (pun intended). You can list out all the things that makes you favor EV over ICE but the moment you place a higher priority on "saving the planet" is the moment you will lose the attention of a large portion of the enthusiast community. If you honestly were to analyze all the data you would be forced to come to the conclusion that EV's effect on the planet is purely symbolic. It makes people feel like they are actually contributing something which I suppose isn't a bad thing but it's not reality.
