Will see.
I’ll get my CT4 back, uPdated, hopefully tomorrow.
Btw: i’ve been told that procedure should take 3-4 hours only… in theory (and Porsche‘s norm), but… it’s not possible to do that.

FWIW:
my car was due to go in for the update today, however they called me and said that the updates are taking at least three days and that they are backed up with taycans. so because of my scheduling issues and their lack of tech availability I have to wait another month to get the car updated.

What you can expect:
* higher range improvement for 4WD over 2WD Taycans (as front motor decouples)
* practical tests here seem to consistently show 10% up to 20% improvement
neither the front motor can be really decoupled (PSM cannot freely run) nor will there an improvement such high as >10%.

Indeed.
There is no clutch at the front so the motor and gearbox still rotates, and all the rotating losses will always be there. Applying a small torque to the front may even reduce tyre rolling losses.

In the end it is the Porsche engineers who have done controlled tests and know the data so I imagine steady evolution and iteration which will eventually be effectively asymptotic to besat possible - maybe soon.

Day two. Not finished yet.
Step 1 went ok, while step 2 still didn’t. (And there's step 3 too)
Maybe tomorrow? :fingerscrossed:

I know that…but still, i’m not comfortable with a fact, that in case that i won‘t hit the pedal,on the right way, it will be blocked.
I am not a fan either. There are certainly better solutions to make this limit override more smooth, elegant. An option to switch off the limit would be very helpful, too.

Finally someone is pointing out how critical air density is to the mileage you get on a 300 mile trip! Whenever I plan a 300 mile trip, the FIRST thing I do is evaluate the air density (I got a great air density meter during Amazon Prime day) and use that to calculate whether or not I can make the trip, and if I need to charge along the way, whether I should charge for 4.2 minutes or 4.3 minutes based on the air density.

Now, after a couple of spins I am more grounded what consumption improvements you can expect. My daily commute measured on a full charge (to 80%) went from 21.2 KWh to 18.4.

Improvement is hence 16.4% so far.
(weather conditions didn't change, it's summer here; car's a 2021 Turbo on 20").

As I understand it, the new software was supposed to move Normal and Range modes to the rear motor only, thereby bypassing power for the front motor and increasing the range on these modes.
I’ve been monitoring and I haven’t found any changes in Normal mode.
Before uPdate:
- Normal mode = AWD
- Range mode = FWD

After uPdate:
- Normal mode = AWD
- Range mode = RWD

I still have not noticed any range improvement on mine. I’ve charged it to 100% a couple of times since it was updated and I’m still getting 250-255 miles, as before the uPdate.

I made only 120km after uPdate….short local rides, so I’ll monitor if i’ll notice anything in coming week(s).
For now, i’d say that uPdste doesn’t bring any improvement for me.

Got a new guess-o-meter record in my car after the update (2022 CT 4, dec 21 build), first charge to 100% in quite a while:

This gives hopium, my update is 9th of Sept. Now approx 400 km.
