Hi
I have a 2021 Taycan 4S purchased 2nd hand about 3 months ago. Am about to go on a 2 week holiday / road trip around France and am considering purchasing Innodrive. Curious what peoples thoughts are on it.... is it worth it?

I have it in my car and I absolutely love it! I know it’s not for everyone—many people don’t find it useful or think it makes no sense. But for me, since I commute daily on the highway, I use it all the time. It’s especially helpful in stop-and-go traffic.
Of course, that’s just my personal opinion.

I have it (it was part of the features)... And even that I would not order it, I like it mainly in stop-go traffic and highways as Vanko says. It's a good releaf in those situations, but you need to keep your hands on the steeringwheel, as it would call you back, and beep in about 30sec anyway.

The precision of steering within the lane is not perfect, sometimes it goes a little zig-zag in the lane.

Precision of overtaking is fine.

I use it all the time on motorways. It’s not great on roundabouts as you can’t pull out behind cars already on the roundabout without getting alarms going off.

That you can purchase Innodrive @Glenn indicates your car is already equipped with active cruise control? That's by far the part of Innodrive I value, I personally don't rate the active lane keeping and I don't allow it to drive round roundtabouts etc., not sure what else Innodrive is doing, maybe the proactive speed limit stuff where it will ask me if I want to adjust cruise speed accordingly. But anyway, if you can buy it by subscribing monthly no harm in giving it a go and see for yourself.

Yep - I have ACC already on the car. Trying it monthly was initially the plan but it now looks like that's not an option anymore. I have to buy it outright for around 860euro... and that does not include Active Lane Keeping.... that's an extra 860euro

I found the innodrive feature useless when I tested it. I have bought ALK though as it's helpful on long journeys and in slow traffic.

I would start by buying ALK and then add on Innodrive if you feel it would improve things. Innodrive without ALK doesn't make sense IMO.

Please search the forum as you will find many opinions on both sides of the argument.

I use Innodrive+ALK+ACC almost all the time. It acts as a second pair of eyes and could save me a speeding ticket (by automatically slowing before a speed limit change) or indeed save my life (if I were distracted and missed a curve or vehicle).

Innodrive is not as reliable as Tesla's autopilot - there are situations where it will give up and surrender control to the driver with no audible warning - but especially as you are travelling in France, it is great at gliding down long autoroutes with little driver intervention other than keeping some torque on the wheel so it knows you are there.

Some people on this forum said that if you buy innodrive, ALK is included.

PID reliability appears to be differently reliable from country to country, due to reports.
I used it in Germany, NL, France, Spain, Portugal, Sweden, Austria and Belgium with satisfying results.

I didn’t realise it can automatically slow the car due to speed limit changes, the way I’m using it I get a message inviting me to accept a new speed limit and I need to tap the resume lever. How do you set it to be automatic (if I’m understanding you correctly)?

In both my J1.2 and former J1 Taycans it has just made that change automatically. As it approaches the limit, Innodrive puts up a blue circle showing its intention to adjust speed, then it correctly adjusts so it is at exactly the right speed when it passes the sign. (By contrast, Tesla has implemented this wrongly -- their vehicles don't start braking until the sign, which is illegal and could get a fine when a camera is above the gantry on a motorway...) Of course when speed limits go up, it also accelerates appropriately and automatically (although I admit I do stamp on the accelerator - no point in having a Turbo if I don't burn out of a slow zone).

With all those 40mph and 20mph zones out there, Innodrive is a huge help.

I don't know what setting is different between my car and yours - assuming Innodrive is enabled. Time to go back through the horribly-written manual perhaps?

I will look into it @anonymouse , thanks.

Yes, agreed on Tesla, wasn’t very good on that. Our humble ID3 does it well, much like the way you describe for your Taycan. I will experiment.
