I know fake leather can be nice, our brekafst bar seats were for a while but poor life. I keep cars a long time.

Photo please. Include a close-up of the place in the driver's seat that gets the most wear and tear when getting in and out of the car. There's bound to be some wear.

Maybe, it seems to be age that counts, not use, the plastic loses suppleness as components degrade.
Anyway I will never buy a car with fake leather seats, however nice.

Fabric and microfibre are fine, even 1980s velour, but never fake leather for me.

Clearly plenty of people are fine with it.

If you want to pay 3x more to get real leather, you can actually get custom - real leather in the car for way less. It does seem the fake Tesla leather mostly does hold up very well.

But if you keep a car for a very long time, you can always replace upholstry. Its a very minimal cost to fix interior parts. I have had cars for a long time, Volvos, Teslas etc. and some times I damage interior, then I replace the parts. I dont drive around with scrathed door panel... Then just replace it..

If you save 2/3 of the price and even get custom made leather seat covers, in real leather from a crocodile skin, you can still have much cash to spare.. That can be used for beer or maybe buy a classic Porche 911 + Model 3 Performance as DD? Then total price is still lower I guess?

Have you tried MB-Tex? I had it but can’t stand fake leather so I covered it with seat covers.

No, I experienced it in taxis decades ago. All my Mercs had leather - I had a string of them until they changed their design/manufacture stance which I didn't like.

It is a car forum. People share opinions about cars, even not Taycans. Perhaps hit the “ignore” button whenever you see a thread like this, if seeing diverse points of view triggers you to tell people that positive opinions that don’t echo your own about any other car, should be posted elsewhere. ?‍

I'm delighted your posting here, I'm considering replacing my TM3LR with another, or a performance or a 3 year old Taycan, so great to get a view from an owner of various cars.
