Turbo S here.
It's so brutal I always have a headache after LC...
It's physically hurting, not that I care, on the contrary, I just love it! ?
That sequence sound, that rumble, that excitement about getting launched, that uuuuuhmpf, that seemles gear shift, that wooooosh!
Man, it's such a great symphony of sounds all together, just brilliant!
They talk about EVs don't have souls, well.... surprise, it does have a soul, electrified! ?

That soul is present. It’s a Porsche, designed by the bright minds of Stuttgart. It’s a piece of art. Enough said. Cheers

It's quite fun and adds some theatre to the experience. Just need to make sure to seat back and put your head against the headrest.

It's interesting to read people not using it, or doing so sparingly. Honestly, I use it regularly - especially when I have a passenger. I find it quite within reasonable limits of control.

Perhaps a function of my motorcycle use.....or extremely low level of maturity?

I have nothing to contribute to a discussion on Launch Control except shock and awe (and pure fright), but I can attest to pretty much every day spent with my new Taycan has involved an extremely low level of maturity.

Anyone else play the Gravity soundtrack on the ride home from the dealer? And coordinate it with the sport sound? Wait til I load up the Superman theme... that's when things really get serious. Hmmm... maybe if I ever try LC I'll find the Contact music. I asked my husband this morning... "Wanna take a ride?"

I won't even get into how much screaming and Wooh-ing out the 4 open windows I've done with my arm flying in the air.

Extreme immaturity FTW!

Launch in my old 4S made my retinas wobble. The GTS is a bit more fun.
More power and more grip with 21s. Launch in my mates Turbo S is nausea inducing. It is the ‘Vomit Comet’
Worse than NASA’s centrifuge.

My soundtrack is always AC/DC.

Which is just fine and loud enough with the base stereo!

(Controversial finish there on wrong thread!)

If only that was always true. So many boys (and girls) with more expensive toys than ours...

I have launched before but it had been awhile and you all inspired me to give it a rip today. My favorite part is the 'greyout,' one step removed from full blackout. Most of the blood rushes out of your head leaving you in semi-concious state for a few seconds. A good friend of mine has had the Tesla Plaid for over a year now and still hasn't launched it. I totally understand, I would think that astronaut training should be a requirement to launch that car (0-60 1.9sec). I would instantly blackout and crash and I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often. I actually appreciate the fact that Porsche isn't chasing Tesla for those completely ridiculous 0-60 times. They have no place in reality and are down-right dangerous.

You're not wrong. A friend gave his Plaid to a valet...she gave it too much pedal in a parking garage and totaled it along with 3 other cars.

I originally assumed that the unpleasantly distracting sensation it induced in me was related to blood flow and pressure, but I've come to think that (at least for me personally) it's more attributable to the brain struggling to reconcile what it sees happening with what it feels happening- when consistent acceleration approaches 1g, the body's sense of which way is "up" is distorted, and there's instinctive reaction to the sensation of falling off-balance. Whatever, it's not a distraction you want when you're driving, least of all when accelerating flat out.

I've a suspicion that the effect is less apparent with a wide-open field of view, when able to see further ahead and not having objects flashing past closely in the peripheral vision.

I'd be interested to know if there are any published studies of these phenomena relating to EV acceleration.

to launch that car (0-60 1.9sec).
If you get the power down...
It's right where the limit is in normal circumstances for any car.
It's a claim you can't even prove on normal street tires and normal road surfaces.
I've launched my Turbo S many times and only a few times (warm clean road, enough SoC, warm and pretty new tires) the TC hasn't interfered.
So, whenever you are challenged by a Plaid, go for it, you'll probably win the first part of the sprint (the Plaid will outrun you nevertheless).

Honestly I've been a little frustrated with Launch Control. In my Turbo it's never launched perfectly, the TC is always kicking in and I'm getting rear wheel hop. I wonder if there's something slightly up with mine?

By comparison our Ludicrous and M3P+ cars always launched flawlessly. Their TC is world's better than Porsche's.

But other than straight line perf the Teslas left much to be desired.
