Does the warranty run concurrently with CPO or can I have it start when CPO ends? In a perfect world, I'd like extended warranty coverage to start when CPO ends, then either expire or surpass manufacture HV battery warranty.

1) do you know if fidelity is selling in Canada too? And have you ever seen a claim covered? (We have aftermarket warranties here that fight to prove that you have violated them when you actually make a claim)

We do not offer protection in Canada, unfortunately.

@kelliporsche I hope you might be able to clarify some conflicting information I've received on Porsche Extended Warranties and CPOs in the US.

I was told by one of the Finance Managers at Scottsdale Porsche that it doesn't make sense to get a Porsche Extended Warranty on a CPO; you'd have to buy it before the original warranty expires and it doesn't make sense to waste two to three years of payments with double coverage.

So the question is, can one buy a VSP plan after the original warranty expires, but before the CPO warranty expires?

Thank you!

Hi Kelli.

I can't seem to understand this. Can you offer a VSP warranty on a car that is still under CPO warranty? So, let's say, on year 5 (4 of original warranty + 1 of CPO) of a car that has 1 year of CPO left. Can I add VSP without inspection and easily? Or do I need to look at other insurance players?

See question just above yours.

I agree, I generally recommend that customers consider obtaining coverage closer to the expiration date of their existing CPO warranty. Waiting until that time allows you to better assess your needs, avoid paying for overlapping coverage, and take advantage of any updated options or pricing that may be available.

You can purchase a VSP after the CPO; however, the options and terms are limited. You can either get a Porsche VSP or a reputable third party from a Porsche dealer like Fidelity.

Thank you and very helpful! I'll reach out in 2031 ;)

Hi Kelli -- My four-year warranty expires in April, on my MY2021 Taycan 4S (purchased new, in Reno NV). Sadly, I have just 9K miles on it. I have pre-paid services on it, extending out for many, many miles yet to be driven. Might we explore an extension from that original warranty, soon to expire? How best to contact?

after the original warranty expires, is there a period of time whereby if I don't purchase Porsche's extended warranty, will the cost of coverage change? And if so, what is this period of time after expiration?

Hi Kelli,

I’m the third owner of my car. First owner returned car to Porsche dealership, which certified the car as a CPO. Second owner traded it in at a BMW dealership, then I bought it from said dealership.

Car is listed at Porsche as CPO (I’ve asked several Porsche service departments and they’ve confirmed, all after transferring the car to me), but I’ve read some people claim second dealership sale voids the CPO warranty. Is this true, or can I rely on the fact my car is still a CPO per the Porsche system? May I have issues in the future if there is a warranty claim? Do I need a VSP?

If you wait until the manufacturer’s warranty has expired, your coverage options become more limited and pricing will typically increase. In most cases, an inspection is required to qualify for coverage at that point, and both Porsche and third-party plans tend to be more expensive.

I recommend that customers secure the Porsche Vehicle Service Protection (VSP) plan while the vehicle is still under the manufacturer’s warranty. Not only does this help you lock in lower pricing, but it also provides added flexibility—if you decide to sell the vehicle, you may be eligible for a prorated refund on the unused portion of the coverage.
