Lost key

I don't have much hope on this question; but I have misplaced my key. My wife still has hers, so we're still mobile, but, and this is more a wish and a prayer. Is there any way of locating it, by some amazing electronic means?

Unfortunately not that I’m aware of.

My wife has misplaced her Audi keys in the past and I remember how expensive it was to replace them. We found them after many years in one of her coat pockets after we’ve sold the car.

You’ve reminded me and I’ve just added AirTags to my key and my wife’s key. Just in case.

Unfortunately no. You have to use locator tags on the keys to prevent and even then it may not be 100% reliable. Lost a key once and it was almost $600 USD to replace as they need to ship them from Germany and they do it in batches and then it has to be coded. This is while stressful and expensive, is fixable. They are moving toward phone as a key as an add on extra cost option of course at least on the Macan EV, but prefer the physical key, and wish they retained it to be still insertable and turnable for heritage, but no such luck.

When I got my new taycan, one of the keys went missing at the dealership. All I know is it never made it home. Shop around, original dealer wanted $1050 (where it was lost). I replaced it for 900 ($650 for key + $250 for programming) at a different dealer.

My sad little saga ended when I looked at the doorbell camera to establish what I had been wearing the last time I used my keys over a week ago. It turned out to be some shorts that I hardly ever wear and one of the few items of clothing I hadn't checked. Still, on the plus side all my wardrobe and drawers have had their best clean out for years.
