More range after battery pack replacement

I was one of the "lucky" ones who needed a new battery pack. I had my GTS for only 2 months and they had to replace it. Interestingly, the range on the vehicle improved by about 25-30 miles. Again, the original battery pack was only driven for 2 months...

Pre-replacement estimated range was around 265-270 at 100%, post-replacement I am 295-300 miles. I am obviously very happy about it but wondering whether anyone has a good explanation for the improvement. Driving style is the same, consumption numbers are unchanged.

It's more likely the weather is warming up.

Mine has jumped from 200 mile range to 230 mile range over last 2 weeks... as the weather is now warming up in the UK.

Don't judge your mileage by the guessometer. Use the actual milage from the odometer. They will not match. I routinely get 275 miles at 85%, but actual miles per odometer shows 240-250.

You are correct, the real world miles dont match but the increase in range is on the guessometer. Even in real world driving I have noted an increase in the mileage.

Could be the defect in your old pack was limiting the range. The pack is overall limited by the weakest cell grouping, for example.

It may take a while to recalibrate and so your milage might adjust. Also mileage on a new car will increase over time and miles added.

On my GTS ST I see the opposite. 224 miles @ 100% (17C ambient), 258 actual, 2.9kW / mile consumption the max i see, average speed 56mph.

After failure, my HV battery was replaced last fall on my 2020 4S Performance and the robot immediately indicated 280 miles of range. With my driving style it returned to about 250 miles of range after a month, normal for me.

Unfortunately I’m now part of the ARA4 recall, 6 months after it was replaced. We’ll see what transpires and if they replace it again what mileage develops.

I'm in the same situation. Don't let them perform ARA4 until they prove that you are included in the recall based on your new battery, not the original battery:

Likely they don't know you have a new battery. Point it out.

But battery will be checked as per procedure, so ultimately, if they don't find anything wrong, they won't do the recall.
