Hi everyone and as always apologies if there’s a thread on this - I’ve trawled but to no avail! I picked up my ST 4S at the end of June but have been away since then and so have only done around 400 miles in the car. I’ve charged it twice. The first time I thought it may have been a “new battery quirk” so ignored it but it’s happened again: my range on 100% charge is 220 miles. Is this normal? I specced (and paid for) the bigger battery. I’m beginning to panic and think that I’ve been sold a car with the standard battery… has anyone else experienced this? And is there a way of finding out my exact spec from the VIN? Obviously I’ll speak to the SA tomorrow but wanted to pre empt anything obvious I’ve missed first…
Have been meaning to do a full post on the car and spec and what I love and what I maybe wouldn’t spec again but was waiting until I’d done a few more miles!
Any info/advice much appreciated.

I have the 4S with PB+. Mine showed 210 miles when I first charged it... (about 20 days old now).

I have now covered about 600 miles, and it has started to show about 240 miles...

Depends how you drive it. If I drive it sensibly, it shows circa 240... but If I hoon it, it drops considerably.

Also, once regen kicks in, the range should increase.... My regen kicked in at about 575 miles or so....

Last paragraph is the important but for OP.

my Ct 4s has just clocked 450 miles. From day one fully charged was showing 200 miles remaining. This morning after full charge is now showing 270 miles.
I think it is just a matter of time and use.

when driving my GT3 "normally" the gas tank gauge @ full shows 430 miles range
when driving home after one day @ laguna seca the gas tank gauge @ full shows 75 miles range

EV battery range is similar - it's based on "recent" driving consumption - and assumes it will be the same consumption going forward…this leads to wildly optimistic/pessimistic estimates…

you can however trust two things which are more difficult to consult:

trip computer and consumption - you should see 2.5 - 3.2 miles/kWh
enter a destination in PCM navigation and see what the battery estimates are at the destination (it's normally accurate +/- 3%)

ignore the "miles" shown on the dash or in the battery meter - it's like the range estimate on the gas tank on my GT3 - it's easily mislead and nothing to do with actual range you will achieve - your trip computer consumption "meter" will be a far more accurate estimator of your range.

if you want to go further - drive slower - it will increase your range…

here if my trip date for my 2020 Taycan Turbo - it's settled into about 3.0 miles/kwh for the last 25,xxx miles - you can expect similar or better numbers from a 4S - so unless you're getting below 2.5 or 2.4 miles/kwh - your 4S is fine…

also trust the miles you can actually drive - vs. what the dash board is showing you - remember my GT3 can only go 75 miles on a _FULL_ tank of gas according to the same sort of estimate after a day at the track - this is grossly wrong for normal street driving…and show how ridiculous these sorts of estimates can be.

Ok this makes sense. Thank you. I had been driving mostly very sedately and so I suppose I was expecting a full charge to show more range but will check the above (thanks for guidance) and then be patient and stop panicking!

It will figure it out based on the last 600km or so (the fuck is a mile?).

It’s a guessometer.
Don’t worry.
The guess is based on being stopped and started out of the factory, on and off ferries and round the dealership car park and stationary with ignition on for 3 hr delivery checks.
Then more stop start by you.

It has NO bearing on what you COULD get.

Go and do a track day and you will get 150 range. Perhaps 155 if regen working.

Regen will make naff all difference if driving for Range.
Driving for range is optimised by never touching the brakes so regen is irrelevant.
You can still use the steering wheel button for gentle regen right from the go. This will regen gently in heavy traffic and help.

Charge your car to 100% immediately before departing to optimise battery temp and drive continuously, gently and carefully just to prove to yourself you can do 300 miles in a 4S straight out of the box even though the ‘gangsta’ 21’ wheels don’t help.

Does regen not kick in straight out of the box on the Taycan?
No there is some sort of algorithm to use the friction brakes until they are properly bedded in before regeneration proper starts.
It happens again for a mile or so first time you drive after a while to clean up the discs.
