I just noticed Goodyear released NF1 tires for 21 in wheel set for our Taycan. Is the 2nd generation better?

Oups yesterday I ordered the NF0, and I didn’t realize there was NF1 on the same website. They are only 15 euros more expensive.

Interested to know the answer as well

All we will probably ever know is they are different. Manufacturers always claim new and improved but as per Porsche, it just means an updated version of an existing model. I believe it does indicate they are no longer producing the NF0 so if buying new always buy the latest P Code.

FYI, I’ve run the NF0 version of this tire for about 6 months and I really like it. Improved range over the Pirelli and no perceivable loss of performance.

Interestingly, when I went looking in my local market (Ireland) for pricing, I noticed that my factory fitter Pirelli's now have a NF1 variant too – for a €65 premium on the NF0 version.

Good to see that Porsche is still certifying plenty of tyre variant's for the Taycan – though no 21" Michelin option yet.

That said, I've been very happy with my Pirelli's from the factory. I know that @Scandinavian has been quiet happy with his factory fitted Goodyear too. Lots of factory tyre options delivering for owners.

When the time comes to change – I think I'll stick to the Pirelli – not least because I am even more impressed with their NF0 winter option.

Thanks for the feedback and good to know. I am also moving away from Pirelli to adopt the Goodyear. My pirelli front tires are dead after 18k km and my understanding is the Goodyear don’t wear that quick. That’s the main reason for my change but the 2nd reason is that Porsche is now fitting the Goodyear by default on the new Taycan for the same rim model to achieve higher range (about 30km according to Porsche’s configurator).
I had some doubt though in relation of the impact on performance, so happy to know that you didn’t notice a difference.

I am currently with GoodYear ASY 5 NF0. I searched in the 911 forum and they are stating it should only be an incremental update between generations. I am going to try the Hankook ion EVO when it's time to change

I’m also considering Hankook Ion EVO, in 21’s meaning they aren’t NF0 though. Mine came with Pirelli from new and 7,000 miles in and they are nearly done already! Eek! Still not sure if the NF1 Goodyears would be a better choice though.

The reason I am going with Hankook is tire noise. Goodyear doesn't have foam inside the tire.

After a second tire was lost to pothole damage (sidewall bulge) at 17,275 miles, I am having to replace the Goodyear F1s.

The rears are at 4/32. The wearbar is at 3/32. New tires are 10/32.
I have tire and rim insurance, so the damaged front tire is covered.
A second front (installed) is $617. Replacing the front and both rears is $1,990.50.

I asked the dealer if it could put on the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S instead of F1s, but the dealer reported it could not get an N-rated version of the MIchelin.

So, it's another round with Goodyear F1s. Performance has been great, but wear and pothole resilience are not so good. The tire cost to drive is just shy of $0.20 per mile.
