I think we should start a whole new thread on the Porsche Customer Interaction Centre (aka Porsche NoHopeDesk) and share our collective thoughts and experiences on that.

There are silos and there are silos and then there is the Porsche NoHopeDesk.

We had problems in the UK for several recent weeks where the magical Confuserator would not save or allow loading of saved confuserations. I dutifully logged a ticket and got a response or two (impressive or what?). In between times the problem got resolved this week and ironically this morning I get an update on my ticket to inform me that they (Germany) were still looking into it.

Clearly, the memo missed a silo or three but this is just the norm from this poorly managed and ill conceived service offering.

The connect app for me is more useful than the My Porsche App. No "recommendations" cluttering the screen. I can lock and unlock, toot the horn, turn on my climate control, see my battery status and trips, tire pressure. All on one page with a little finger swipe up.

Yes.
First pic shows the lock buttons. Second pick shows it unlocked after I touched the unlock. Sitting in my office car is out in the parking lot.

just did some quick reading on another thread. Porsche is promising this across the fleet with OTA but for now it remains unavailable for MY2020 - the app is a giant nothingburger for that MY

Yeah but it is utterly unreliable and when it works it takes ages.
I agree, it is slow to load. I open the app and then switch to another app (usually go divide my range by percent to see what 100% is lol) and then come back and it is loaded (green circle on the top left).

I think I counted about 25 seconds from pressing my pin till the car unlocked.

- connect tells me speed of charge
-I can plan routes in Connect
- connect has iPhones widgets
Porsche have confirmed to me that these are coming to the newer My Porsche app. I think they recognise that the new app is far from finished, hence why the Connect app is still available. Its in transition – the unanswered question is, for how long?

Funny I constantly divide the reported range by the SOC percentage in decimals to see what 100% is too.

But we are discussing the new app - it showed promise initially but now (like Porsche Connect) it fails to connect - my car is 10' from where I am and won't connect. Useless.

Mine connects while next to the car or 900 miles away (tested it when I was in Texas and the car was in Florida). Even my Blackvue gave me live video from the car while I was out of town.

Im completely OCD on this front as well because I always limit charging to 80%.

The problem isn’t the apps themselves, they are just accessing APIs on the Porsche servers and rendering info or sending control back to it for action. The app doesn’t connect to the car directly.

The issues seem to be the Porsche servers connecting to the car, or not as the case maybe. Teslas are pretty much constantly online (hence the phantom drain…) with the mothership so their app connects to the servers, then they connect to the cars with little or no issues.

Taycans go missing often it appears, whether they are asleep preserving the 12v battery or what I don’t know, but the online connection is flakey when the car is not in motion or just after. They must of thought of this and maybe they just wake once a minute/5 minutes or something but seems like this gives the crap response or more often than not, no response at all. Architecture issues in general I’d say.

Pre heating the car remotely via an app or website is very hit and miss for me, never failed on the previous Tesla I had.

Yes but 5 times out of 10 I can't connect - the car goes to sleep essentially so I've grown not to be dependent. Could be a periodically weak LTE signal which frustrates the reliability of the connection.

Why are there two apps. I have been using Porsche Connect and whilst its a little flaky and sometimes slow to action requests - I think (as someone else said) its not the app but rather the reliability and connection between Porsche servers, the car and the app.

That being said, the app works - at least for me. So the question then is why is there even another app being developed, surely it would just be better to integrate the existing one better..Maybe the base foundation and API that the app is built on is not seen as the best foundation long term?
