I'm picking up my Taycan next Friday (dec 17). In regard to the Porsche Connect app, I guess I don't have an option to download the 'old' one. What do you think I should do to make sure this is all working before I pick up the car? Download the new app and then make sure the dealer has it all working before I drive away? Or is this not possible?
Don't accept delivery of the car unless you can log into the car with your Porsche Connect ID and the app can pick up your car - insist on it.

And when you login make sure your account is marked as primary account. We didn’t realize this on Friday when we picked up my wife’s car, both of our accounts were secondary accounts. At the time we didn’t check the app, so we did not know the car was not associated with her Porsche account (to be primary). The dealer was quick to fix this on Saturday.

You should receive an activation email from Porsche to add the car to your porsche.com account or setup a new account., if you do not have an existing account.

My dealer told me that when the car is being shipped to register for the app and let them know the password and pin code so that they can make sure it will connect and work (they have had some issues). Once they have done that then I can change the password and PIN to something else.
To be clear, is it the My Porsche app that is the new one?

Porsche Connect is the mobile phone app. My Porsche web app is different offering more features - not something where you can control the version you use.

There is both Porsche Connect and My Porsche in the app store (iPhone). I haven't looked at web based apps

The web app is the same as the My Porsche App as I've just discovered!

Never used it as I'm always on my PC (!). On the main Porsche website you can login with your I'd. Not checked yet if there are any differences.

Actually there is a lot more data available in the web version right down to the spec of your car (can't find this on the phone version) plus many more things.

I think the new version is pretty good. It does need a few more features (charging speed and "ready to continue your trip" as examples.)

Hmmm - I also somewhat warily changed to the new Connect app bef actually receiving my car - car is in PDI at dealership so will be interesting if we try to connect at there this week as to how it handles this! Hoping that any PDI check might also ensure absolutely latest of everything related re comms but who knows.

PS: @Reg I got an update reminder in iOS to DL and install the new version which I did.
that version is the latest and hasn’t been updated for 3 months.

so it may be new to you, but it has been out there for a while

After 7 months of ownership the old connect had always worked more or less. Occasional hiccup here and there but mainly working.
Downloaded the new one. Said could not connect to the Taycan if old app was present. I deleted the old one and now……Ta-Daaa! I have NOTHING. NO FUNCTIONS. NO CONNECTION. COME ON PORSCHE. HIRE SOME NERD FROM THE VALLEY!!!
The NERD will say: "Never change a running system" :giggle:

Stock price dipping, need to sell extra hard today? :CWL:

Strange, that I have never used the T app in over 6 years, not even installed on my phone, but I frequently use the Porsche Connect app.

Ha - 3 months - I guess you’re expecting monthly updates - good luck with that :)
