I think you are confusing PCCB which are standard on Turbo S at least. I doubt you will fried those.

I stand corrected. You are right, it’s the Turbo which comes standard with PSCB.

there are plenty of people who track the Taycan. I don't believe @DerekS was really used by people who know how to drive on track. If you have been to any of performance driving schools. They have a lot fast acceleration and slam on the brakes multiple times. Which is probably not the best for the brakes not allowing cooling lap to cool them down before you enter the pit.

Paging @daveo4EV , who has tracked his Taycan as well as other Porsches. Any thoughts on the PSCB brakes for the track, and how Porsche sales guys can kill them in under 100 miles?

This is so trite. I have founded and operated four engineered product manufacturing businesses and I worked for two others when I was young. Not once did an accountant ever get involved in a technical decision. In fact accountants basically make no decisions within the hierarchy of a business.

I have lost battles with bean counters on products all my career. For example, $0.10 for a satellite settop box to make it more reliable (without this, about 10% of them could have a screen roll - lass of frame sync - every few hours of watching). @prj , do you think it takes special abuse to crack Porsche brakes in under 150miles of track use, or are Porsche cars not really built for track use? Fun commuter car and pretty garage decoration?

It's just the pads though, if you track the car then pads are a consumable anyway.
For PSCB and Steel brake cars you can get aftermarket pads for pennies. Seems like the discs got destroyed here though.

TBH PSCB is a shitshow anyway.

Yes, but cooked in under 100 miles? That works out to be $80/mile of track just for front brakes. It doesn't seem like a car designed for track usage. I suspect most cars can last 100 miles on a track.

pads gone in 100 miles - hmmmmm - well I did kill a set of factory pads for my Model 3 Performance in less than 20 miles - but typically Porsche factory pads are better than that…

Taycan is a heavy car - and if you're using hte brakes a lot on track you're going to wear the pads - a LOT - I tracked my Taycan with PCCB's and the pads were not worn in 100 miles - but who knows?

without pics and measurements who knows - pads are cheap (relatively) vs. other things - if you don't want to pay for consumables don't track the car - all sorts of things cost money once you start tracking a car - especially on a 5,000 lbs AWD 700 HP missile…

I have very little personal experience with PSCB's and the typical pad wear.

Just get brembo or trw pads, they cost pennies. And yes it's normal to destroy the pads in a few sessions, I'm guessing this car did only hard track miles.
What shouldn't be damaged are the rotors though, but as I said PSCB is a joke, especially on the Taycan.

Did you see the cost quote (below)? ~$80/mile in just front brakes does not seem relatively cheap, but there again, I haven't seriously tracked cars. Add rear brakes, tires, other consumables, what's the per mile cost to track a Porsche?

I hope they own the problem; so far all I've got is a verbal (and that was before the $7700 repair order.)

You can absolutely just do pads. The reason they're changing your rotors is because they're damaged as well.

I am pretty sure that there are some 971 Panamera front and rear steel rotors in exactly the same size as Taycan PSCB's as well, but I need to put them side by side to check.

Clearly in this case, but I was told they do them together when replacements are needed.

They can choose to do so, but it's not required. The reason they do them together is because the PSCB have an "expiry date" - I believe it was 6 years? Or might have been 4?
And since normally the Taycan barely uses the brakes, then they do both the pads and the discs when the time runs out.

Either way PSCB is a disaster. Go steel or PCCB IMO.

Are you saying Porsche requires all new brakes (pads+rotors) for Taycans at 6 (or 4) years?

old wives tale - but yeah a lot of dealers will tell you this - i get brakes done at an indie shop for more objective service advice
