What did the work notes say?
Literally said "re-programming thermal management control unit" and nothing more

I got it done today, here is a more extended note:

I am having WPS9 done today along with hv heater replacement, although my heater has been working just fine. If I am given any additional info than referenced above I will post it. On a positive note, I called this past Thursday after having been notified by Porsche that my number was up for the hv heater replacement and was able to get in already today to have the work done with a loaner (Macan) provided. Kudos to Aristocrat Porsche in Kansas City!

My WPS9 update was done... I now notice the "engine sound" only comes on in Sport Plus mode... previously, it would come on in Sport mode and then when I switched to Sport Plus, the sound would be more gruff/beefy sounding. Now it's different. Why would a thermal management update have any bearing on the fake sound that is generated? Has anyone else noticed this?

Yes, same for me. The sport sound was removed from the Sport mode in the PCM after this update, and is now present only in sport plus.
Not sure if it sounds different, as I don't use the sound much, as I prefer the normal "electric" sound it is making. Can't make it make no sound at all, never really could.

My WPS9 was done recently. I only had sport sound only in Sport Plus before that so it’s probably not directly linked.
But now my heater blasts as if almost on the max (as if it were on the defrosting setting- not as much but the fan noise and “wind” is very annoying in the front). Did anyone else had this side effect?

I just had WPS9 done. Before I was noticing while it is still cool in the northeast, that the cabin heater was not aggressively maintaining the called for cabin temperature. In our Mercedes you set it to 72 and it will blow hot and fast until it hits 72. Now I in the few minutes I drove it since, the Taycan does that. Once it hits the requested cabin temperature it should settle down. You can adjust the vent directions if that is annoying.

My Taycan has the sport sound on only in Sport Plus since new, over a year ago.

After this update it seems to me that the heated steering wheel doesn't get "too warm", meaning it can remain on. Previously I had to turn it on/off frequently due to being too hot.

I just picked up my ‘22 Turbo S from service. They did the PCM Update and Replaced the HV Heater. When I went in for the 2yr service a couple months ago they had WPS9 on the list of things to do (didn’t get to it because they messed up my loaner reservation).

This time they had no record of WPS9 and said they can only do the updates that are in the system for the car. Do you not need WPS9 if you get a new heater???? ??

I think WPS9 actually kills the heater. Mine survived 35000 miles and 4 years and failed within a month after WPS9.
Might be a coincidence, but given that this WPS9 makes heating more intense, it’s plausible that it kills the heater. Maybe that’s the reason why they pulled this update

Interesting. I’ve only had the car a couple months so haven’t really needed to use the heat much.

Was just strange to have a service listed by the dealer for the car that disappears within a month. The only logical connection was that the HV Heater replacement recall didn’t exist at the time of my first visit. I an reading posts on here that people have had both the WPS9 and Heater Replacement in some cases during the same visit.

Guess I have a couple seasons before I need to worry about it lol

When I made an appointment for the heater replacement, I was told there was heater replacement AND heater related firmware flashing to do. When I dropped the car off this week, no more firmware update on to-do list. I asked why, they said it must have been some old update which they already did at a previous service, but the system only caught up now that it’s already done. I think it’s more likely it was this WPS9 and that it got pulled for some reason. Maybe WPS9 is not needed if replacing a heater with the latest one, so my car did need it, but not if replacing with a new heater which has WPS9 flashed or already includes flashing firmware as part of the replacement procedure?

Another way to put it, maybe only cars with non-updated heater need WPS9?
