Retrofit Macan Camera?

I had to move my 2016 Chevy Silverado this morning. Threw it into reverse and thought "wow that camera looks good!"

The crappy camera on the Taycan is a sore spot for me for. But still, I drive the Taycan to work now, and not the truck. So I guess it's not TOO bad. Haha

I don't understand either. Camera is fine, looks similar to my 991.2 gt3, which I use to back into my garage and onto a lift all the time.

My camera is crystal clear. I’ve had several ok cameras - Audi etc - but this one is excellent. I can only assume that you have a problem with yours. Worth checking another at the dealer ?
My Taycan is an MY22 (April) with surround view. It’s brilliant.

Mrs has the new Gen 3 Macan. Cameras on that are fine. Cameras on my Taycan are better.

I posted this in the forum before. Kerbside view (excuse the wonky camera work, really should’ve had a passenger in the car filming) for our American friends to see if theirs are different.
Mine is specced with Surround view not the remote/3D option others may have on their cars.
More than adequate and fairly clear to me.

I don’t get why people have issues with the cameras.

I had a Macan Turbo for 3 years and the cameras (360 / Pana) on the Taycan are superior in every way.

Seems to be a common US complaint for whatever reason - perhaps folk aren’t switching from fisheye to normal when needed?

I have a 2022 Cayenne and the camera is worlds better.

From what i can tell, in the "alternative" mode, the Taycan camera is not unlike the camera on Silveral's BMW 7-series. Main difference being that the camera on the Taycan is mounted VERY low on the car, and has an ever so slightly narrower field of view.

The joke will be that all current models use the same hardware and cameras but the positioning may be different.

Its exactly like this on my UK car, the distortion is ridiculously bad. On the ‘standard‘ reversing camera rather than the surround view option there’s also no option to change out of fisheye view.

You can only use the image to give you an idea due to the distortion, you have no real idea of distances and sizes of objects via the camera so must use the mirrors mainly. In the previous Tesla I could safely park using the camera and then the mirrors secondary.

I’m not saying it’s not useful or dangerous but compared to other manufacturers, a models s especially, its terrible. Garbage even. You even had to pay £500 for the privilege until MY22 made it standard!

I only hear the ‘garbage’ call from our US friends (as mentioned earlier) - we Brits are made of sterner stuff and just accept / get on with it (still not accepting the cameras are ‘garbage’ as they patently are not).

P.S. I wonder if the camera was changed on the 2022 models?

Mine’s a MY22, with a completion date of Feb 11th, and the camera is a POS. It’s really bad when I’m backing out and my son’s car is on the right if mine and when you look on the screen his car looks like it’s right in my path and flying up towards me. It’s because of the fisheye effect that makes the image moving alot faster than reality. I can fly backwards into a parking spot with my Lexus but when I do it in this car, I have zero confidence. But, again, everything else is awesome with it so just have to put up with this single flaw.
