Shell recharge Porsche Charging card

So I’ve excitedly just pulled up to a shell recharge charger, which my car has directed me to, and having checked on MyPorsche app to see how much this will cost me I grabbed my new Porsche Charging card and pressed up against the machine to be given the message ‘try another card‘. I give Porsche a ring to see what the problem is and get told “oh that’s because shell is no longer one of our charging partners and so you’ll have to charge using another method of payment’. Given that shell is probable one of their best value and most accessible charging partners, I am absolutely fuming that despite being informed and directed to this charger by Porsche, and being given the rates on MyPorsche app I now have to find my own chargers and their pricing schedule. What on earth is the point of the Porsche charging network????

Rant over. But seriously, presumably the Porsche Charging network was created to give Taycan drivers the reassurance that there is a working charger waiting for you during your journey. why the hell has the map not been updated prior to Shell being ditched as a partner, and are there any other charging partners that no longer work?

Me too, Porsche is the only one that dares to charge a yearly fee though.
I’m 90% AC charging, home or at work. I’m going to cancel the Porsche card as I won’t leverage Ionity enough to make it worthwhile. For Shell I have their recharge card (formally NewMotion)

Surely you have three years of free membership with Porsche Charging included with your Taycan?

I did same over the weekend… so you’ve solve my query of why it didn’t work. That is so annoying as I have a shell ev charge station just down the street

I had exactly the same experience over the weekend. Cambridge services Ionity chargers had 4 chargers out of six out of order. And a queue of course so the car directed us to Shell Fenstanton along the old A14. Impossible to get any charge. The chargers all came up in the navigator, and in the app. The app showed all details but no go. Phone call to Porsche Charging services (France) was totally useless and they had no idea why they could not restart or communicate with the charger.

So thank you for clarifying and explaining.

I also had the same experience twice last week with Total chargers in France and the question is why bother with the Porsche Charging Service when the free subscription runs out. Not very useful to hve these chargers as part of route planning and then not working.

just tried an Elli card at a Shell Recharge station in SW London and was unsuccessful. sent an email to Elli support and this is their response:

Thank you for reaching out to us.

We are very sorry you were not able to start your charging session. Still, we are fully aware of the authorization issues at the Shell rechargers, and the technicians are already working on them.

Also, we regret to inform you about another temporary issue at the BP chargers. Nonetheless, if you are not able to charge at BP, you are invited to call the provider at this number: 330 016 5126, as they could start the charging session remotely. Of course, this issue is also being worked on.

In conclusion, as an Elli customer you are entitled to recharge at all the charging stations that belong to our service. Such stations can be found within the maps of the Elli app. As for now, we apologize for the inconvenience and heartily invite you to charge at another provider.

Sure, but Shell Recharge‘s ultra fast chargers cost £0.85 kWh if paid via Electroverse whereas Elli charge a flat rate of £0.63 kWh for all non Ionity DC charging (without a paid subscription) reducing to £0.48 or even £0.43 for paid subscriptions (they have two payment tiers).

Didn’t check the prices, but even natively Shell Recharge at 79p per unit would be cheaper than Electroverse.

Mad prices though, hopefully Elli get their auth. issues sorted.

Which is a far cry from the 30p plus per min charge at Shell. I live round the corner from a huge Shell EV garage in SW London and it’s cheaper (just) to use a street charger than the native shell rates now.. so annoying that they don’t say anything about this.
