BP Pulse is on the Porsche charging service right?

My nearest 300kW hub is 11 nice shiny new BP Pulse chargers that romp along at 250kW.

Worked perfectly since I got the car last year but tonight I got "failed to authenticate" every time I tried to use it despite multiple successful charges over the last few months.

Any ideas? Just bad luck? Others were charging ok.

cheers!

Lots of us in UK are reporting connectivity issues at the moment (app not connecting, no on-board services such as Spotify, album-art, ...) which is pointing towards Porsche server problems -> Porsche charging could be related?

I don't think the BP Pulse problem is limited to Porsche. I tried a few days ago with our other car on them and couldn't get it to charge either.

After trying 2 different chargers that failed to authenticate, I ended up creating a BP Pulse account, topped it up and that managed to start the charge.

The same! I hadn't use it for years and there was even £14 sat on it!!

Hi, just jumping in on this thread for some advice. I've had my Taycan 6 months and so far I've only charged away from home once, and that was before my Porsche Charging Card arrived. So my probably very naive question is; when I travel to France next week and use the card, do I simply present the card to the machine then plug in, or do I need to scan the QR code with the Porsche App first? Thanks for any advice.

IMO, Porsche card is more than enough, just follow instructions on charging station.

You may have to do both. I have travelled to France/Switzerland 3 times in the Taycan. On some charging points, the Porsche card works fine, but in most places, I had to scan the QR code in the app.

Best be prepared for both… I spent a lot of time (wasted) in trying to get the card to work, only to realise that scanning the QR code in the Porsche app is near instant.

This was not limited to any specific chargers, even Ionity chargers at some places refused to initiate with the card, but worked with QR code.

Not sure, if this has anything to do with Porsche Charge cards issued in the UK, or if it is a more common issue.

Also, connection information appears instantly in the app when using QR-code.
No problem with unreadable Ionity displays anymore.

Just swipe the card and plug in!

Enjoy! Remember that there are lots of good networks out there. Chargemap and Shell cards are both worth having and using both Chargemap app and A Better Route Planner apps will simplify your route planning.

All the best.

If you're taking the Channel Tunnel, the Chargemap card works on the chargers on the UK side (not the Tesla ones). Porsche had me stopping at a garden centre on the way to the Chunnel last time I went. Typical Porsche planning!!!

After my initial anxiety over charging in France I'm happy to report that it was simplicity personified. I used the Porsche route planner and it told me the chargers where I could use my Porsche card, and directed me not only to the services or Aire, but through their car park and directly to the actual chargers. Swipe the card, plug in, and by the time you've drunk a coffee and eaten a croissant or two it's charged. I hadn't appreciated that the car also recognises that you're in France and changes the headlights to dip to the right and adjusts the time; pity it doesn't change miles to kilometres. Plus, the chargers at Folkestone are ideal to use whilst waiting to be called for your train on Le Shuttle. Had the car 6 months, and still being surprised how good it is.

That was exactly my experience too with driving in France, although my dash also changed everything from miles to km as soon as I got off the tunnel/train

Hi Dabz, It would appear to be user error on my part. I changed the miles to kilometres just as we drove off the train; the hours and headlights then did their thing. On the return journey I waited for everything to change back, but it would appear that as I'd manually changed the distance reading, the car thought, "well you can change it back. I'll leave it to the car in future.
