FYI there was an update overnight to the Connect app and the release notes say that this will be the last update to the Connect app and to download the new My Porsche app. I am not sure what was changed in the Connect update other than a splash screen now that says to download the new app. See below.

TL;DR: it’s the end of the line for the legacy app. Time to get on the My Porsche train and hopefully it’s updated soon to have the rest of the functionality that Connect had.

For UK / Europe the My Porsche App still lacks the charging feature (!) so I suspect most people this side of the pond won’t be in a hurry to ditch the legacy app (faults and all).

And it also lacks the possibility to turn on seat heating in different seats of the car etc etc. The list of missing functions is quite long.

While not Taycan related, I was recently comparing Connect V My Porsche with my Cayenne Hybrid to send an email to Porsche and similar to your and others findings here (related to Taycan functionality) can say "My Porsche" app is sadly lacking compared to Connect

Functionality in Connect which is missing from My Porsche (for a Cayenne Hybrid)

* No Flash Headlights (to find in car park)
* No Sound Horn (to find in car park)
* No Ability to select / edit which seats are also heated when using preheat function
* Info displayed in Trip Data is massively reduced in My Porsche - only displaying the last Hybrid combined data for "since start" (of last trip), "since refueling" and "total" (all car life) .. Connect App also displayed data historically (click on bar charts and the detailed data would be displayed) with data visible for every trip , "since fuelling" ie stats for every tank of petrol and also a annual summary under "since".. This data was really useful as it allowed me to use the EV side of the vehicle to maximum
* No ability to display predicted range (both hybrid combined and EV only) on the map
* No ability to edit or use charging timers
* No display of Tyre Pressures
* No record of pairing code
* Only allows Alarms for Speed or location .. No ability for setting the "valet alarm" (simple on/off alarm based on combined speed / location changing)
* No Real time Traffic info on Map (explore option)
* No History record of alarms (location, speed, Valet)
* No historical display of use of lock / unlock via app or Car Alarm being triggered or Horn/Flashers "find me" in App being used
Excellent list. I would add following for My Porsche APP
* allow me to add local electricity rates so the app calculates both how much $ I spend charging at home, as well how much I am saving when using EA chargers.
* Lock/Unlock works oddly. I would also like to be able to configure that if car unlocked but you have your phone the car will drive and operate normally (think lost fob).
* lock doesn't use the same SW entry point as fob. When lock with app (or MyPorsche online) the mirrors stay out instead of folding in like it is configured.
* ability to record G-Meter and display.

FWIW Dropped email to Porsche ([email protected]) re Differences of My Porsche and Connect Apps and they responded

Thank you for contacting Porsche Cars Great Britain.

I am sorry for the difference in services, following to move across to the new My Porsche app.

At this time, I cannot comment if the relevant services will be re-released at a later date, but I can confirm that I have saved your feedback here at Porsche Cars Great Britain, which is visible to all management levels in the UK and Germany.

Porsche Germany will update the UK market shortly on the next steps and what will be released, so please do await further contact shortly.

I am sorry I could not advise further at this time.

Kindest regards

Perhaps we all should tell them how bad My Porsche ?
I have posted a review of the new Connect App on Playstore (and updated it following a weak reply from Porsche about improving charging functions in due course - which did at least only take a couple of days for them to issue).
In addition to your points, although I can edit the Timers, I cannot edit or add to the Profiles so charging functionality is heavily compromised (I need to use a profile if I want to time my charging during cheap tariff but then precondition the batteries before leaving in the morning while at the same time limiting charge to 80/85%... they could certainly improve the charging functionality going forward though!).
In addition public charging locations are a joke: as noted elsewhere the only way to find charging locations is to put in a dummy destination and then search but incredibly the Porsche Destination Chargers are only noted by postcode or obscure corporate names, not the hotel names! I use Porsche Charging Service App (green charge icon, available on Playstore) still - this does work fairly well for locating potential chargers with filters (when I showed it to someone at the Edinburgh dealership, they did not even know it existed), combined with Zapmap for UK route planning - the Porsche algorithm is useless.
I have never had any useful feedback from Porsche UK or Germany despite several emails over 14 months.
My Playstore review also requested advice on retrospective software updates for MY21 6.0 PCM (see posts elsewhere on Forum) so will be interesting to see if they come back as quick this time. If they do I will add those missing items from my review that you have listed eg remote flash lights/horn - functions which I have used many times on my 4S.
I don't hold out much hope until Porsche sack their software development team...am taking delivery of a Q4 Etron Sportback in March so will be interested to see if Audi software is just as bad!

Uninstalled MP app and reinstalled Connect after a few days.
Enough said!
Not sure how long before this app is fully replaced and wont function anymore, which at the moment would be a great shame.

The main issue I have with the MyPorsche app is that every time I try to do route planning via the app – add stopovers, etc – it says I can't do it due to "theft mode". However, theft mode is definitely not active and the same functionality works fine in the older Connect app.
