Morning

A bit late to the party

I have a 2024 Taycan GTS

A few days ago I had an odd grinding noise coming from fromt of car

Yesterday something metallic feel off the car with a noticeable bang when turning left out of a junction

Since then I have a 'high pitch vibration' feel coming through the steering at most speeds (10mph - 70mph) in any drive setting. Really nasty feeling - a bit like holding a beard trimmer in your hand (No buzzing sound just vibration) Steering seems to work ok

Im not sure but it might be coming through the peddles, but very slightly

Just gone in to dealer for other work

They said they will take a look, but so far my experience with them is 'we are very busy' and sorry we are not really interested

PS - Car is 4 months old never curbed etc

I’ll add to this one too. Slight vibration at all speeds and what I put down to tyre noise for a long time is distinctively louder with the window open.

I have been experiencing a steering wheel vibration for a while now (in 2023 Taycan CT 4S with 15k miles). I knew the inside edges of the front tyres were worn so thought it could be this. Have now had two new Michelins fitted on the front (as original). In doing so I found I had a slightly buckled inside rim on the nearside front wheel, probably caused by a pot hole. I had the rim repaired and imagined all would now be fine but in fact the unpleasant vibration (which feels rather like an strong electric razor in your hand - as described in another US thread - rather than a typical unbalanced wheel vibration) is still there, particularly in the 85- 90 mph range (not on English roads).
I'm going to have the front wheels checked again for balance and true but suspect that will throw nothing up.
Has anybody else had similar experiences or any solutions to suggest?

Did you get your tracking checked? If the wheel itself is true and balanced I'd be looking at suspension geometry and potentially brakes - if you hit something hard enough to buckle a wheel you might have done more damage elsewhere.

Yes, I did get the tracking checked and adjusted (wasn’t far out) - should have mentioned it. The brakes seem fine. I did not even realise I had hit a pothole enough to damage the wheel so I think more serious damage is very unlikely. Thanks for the suggestions.

I have a similar issue on my Turbo GT (J1.2, 2025 model)
In speeds between approx. 50-70 km/h and the car is rolling (no power or recuperation) there is a vibration / resonance in the front drive unit.
Its also felt in the steering wheel (same with vinter or summer tires)

I reckon there must be some software issues because I didn`t had this issue the first couple of months after purchase of the car

I'm not clear how software can create a vibration?
Since my post above I have had the the front wheels rechecked for balance and I was told that the previously buckled wheel (and supposedly straightened) still showed a very slight buckle. The balance was fine. So I am now returning to the people who straightened the wheel for them to have another go. I'm also considering buying a new (or straight second hand) wheel as it seems likely to me, after researching the issue on the web, that even a small buckle can be felt through the steering wheel at certain speeds.
As I mentioned previously, I was surprised to have a buckled wheel at all so for those that have this problem it might be worth having them checked as a first step when also checking balance.

I`m thinking about the transition between power, recuperation and idling?
What about the slip differential and connection from motor to wheels?

There hast to be a lot of software transactions in all these phases

My tires and rims are in mint condition + the same issue is felt with winter and sommer tires (can`t blame balance of wheels)

OK. It was just a thought. Can you eliminate software by seeing if the vibration continues regardless of of power on/off recuperation on/off etc? I have certainly tried this and I have the vibration in a certain speed range regardless of as many status variations as I can think of!

If I engage Recuperation or Power the vibration is gone.
It only happens when the car is rolling freely between speeds approx. 50-70 km/h?

I'm not an engineer but that suggests it only happens when there is no load - so perhaps a wheel bearing or something in the drive train.

Personally, I wouldn't be running a previously buckled / repaired wheel on a Taycan - Granny's shopping runaround, maybe, but not a Taycan. Genuine wheels come up on ebay regularly so no need to pay Porsche tax on a new one ?.
