Well, I am sad to say that I'm stepping off the EV bus when my Taycan extended warranty expires in October of next year. I will most likely get a Panamera Turbo S hybrid. My last roadtrip sealed the deal. 20 deg F temperatures and a 250 mi trip from Cincinnati to Cleveland. Put my destination into the Porsche nav system and it calculated a stop for me with 12% battery remaining. In these temps, my range was 205 miles starting out. As I'm approaching the charging destination, I'm keeping an eye on mileage remaining at the charge station. I started with 26 miles remaining, but as I drove, the mileage started dropping, 22, 18, 14... and by the time I get to the charging station, I had 9 miles. I never exceeded the speed limit by more than 10mph, and my speed limit went from 95mph to 65 as I approached the station. I found myself tailgating semi's to drop the wind resistance. I get to the station, and there are three chargers, one not working, the other with an empty car parked in front of it, no longer charging, and a very nice guy who saw my predicament and said he'd only be another 10-15 minutes. Once I did hook up, the 'fast charger' ran at around 50W instead of the typical 150-200, so I sat for over 40 minutes. I am done with road trips with this car from now on. My battery health is an excellent 92% (getting a new battery in mid 2024). The anxiety and lack of range make this car just ridiculous for anything other than around town driving. The 158 days in the shop haven't helped sell me on EV's either...
A hybrid Panamera Turbo S will hopefully have most of the bugs worked out by late 2027, and it will be a great car for both driving around town on full electric charge, and taking long trips with no worries whatsoever. I will wait until solid state batteries are in cars for a few years before I even consider making the plunge to EV's again.
