Like most Porsche options, they are "nice to have" not "need to have." Nobody needs to have a fake engine noise, but it is relatively cheap and will help with resale. Some people to get an emotional vibe when hearing engine sounds while driving so hey.

Although polling here in this forum shows people with the option leave it off half the time so hey. YMMV.

No. 100% No.

BTW it is not an exhaust sound or anywhere near. Simply an electronic /synthetic TRON sound and is too tedious for words. Most of us made the mistake of adding it and I have mine permanently off.

There are a number of things that should be on the car (even if they are low value)…the sports sound is one of them. I rarely use it but it should be standard so none of us have to think about it.

I have it because I bought a larger package that includes it. I would have been hard pressed to buy it as an individual option when I spec’d my car.

The sound is Marmite.
Some love it some hate it.
Seems to be about 50-50 on this forum. Few seem to be indifferent but that’s forum speak.
I have it as standard on my GTS.
I NEVER have it on.
My first test drive I tried it and within a few minutes I thought,
‘Well, that sounds shit!’ and turned it off.
I enjoy the smooth, serene silence.
You don’t need it for resale. Plenty of potential buyers don’t like it and plenty of people not on forums just don’t care.

FWIW my dealership salesman says the most common question is
‘Does it have the glass roof?’
They say the ones without the glass roof sell much slower.
The crazy colours also take ages to sell.

Best advice is just get what you want!

I love the fact that it is almost exactly 50/50 after a few replies. So lots of great advice and as a whole absolutely no help at all.
Every Porsche dealer in the world will have a car available to test drive with the sound. All demonstrators have.
Go for a whizz. Try it out.
Like everyone here you will love it or hate it. Indifference in highly unlikely.

100 agree. I love Frozen Berry and Rubystar. I like the double bubble roof. I only got the glass roof so I could fit roof bars!
I am also tight. I have considered a ‘safe’ colour next time. Protect paint with a full Rubystar wrap then peel it off for resale at a premium for the mint paintwork.
if I got RubystarPTS I would need full protective clear wrap anyway!
Just a thought….
