The notice of charging the car only to 80% is global for all recalled cars. The recall notice letter, mentioning the 80% limit is attached as extra document on the NHTSA website to the recall entry.

The notice to not charge indoors or park near buildings is only for countries with less regulations: uk, switzerland, indoensia, south africa, india, etc.

Here it says clearly: Porsche has decided that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety, exists IN CERTAIN 2020-2024 Taycan vehicles.

Also, the 80% charge restriction applies to “AFFECTED VEHICLES”.

Please stop turning news into fake news. You keep implying that every single model on the planet should observe all restrictions: not true.

Yes, correct.

And in EU it says ALL vehicles produced in 2019 to 2024 are affected. Because they cannot pinpoint exactly which cars. So yes, certain cars, that they don't know which certain cars. So unless you can tell us exactly which cars, Porsche can't tell us, therefore any and all cars could be affected. And since it's a production issue, affecting 5 manufacturing years, there is a high chance the number is not exactly small.

Please stop turning facts in weird personal attacks.

Porsche is rolling out the recalls & recall notices in groups, to avoid overwhelming the service centers.

So unless Porsche produced vastly different cars for EU compared to NA, and still decided to apply the same recalls to both of those vastly different cars, likely the region with most regulations is right. And that would be EU.

EDIT: And yes, if for recall ARB6/ARA4/ARA5/etc in uk / switzerland / india / etc. people are told to not charge indoors, it's not because the cars in USA & EU are better, it's because the law doesn't allow Porsche to dodge their blame in case of fire. If porsche would be allowed by law to impose those restrictions in USA/EU, they would.

I have a 2020 Taycan 4S and specifically asked at the official Porsche center in Copenhagen about the battery issue when I had the car in the workshop to repair some scratches last summer. The service person said it doesn’t affect my car and I don’t have to do anything about it. No charging limitations or checkups. I was in just recently in January as well to swap out the break hoses, and no mention of battery limitations now either.

Specific Taycan VINs are included in recalls. The battery recall in US affecting the largest number of Taycans is Porsche campaigns ARB6 and ARB7. Those campaigns do include at least some 2020 model year vehicles per this recall report on NHTSA site.

While it is theoretically possible that not every 2020 Taycan is potentially affected by the ARB6 or ARB7 recall (which will install new battery diagnostic software), I believe it is unlikely.

All of these HV battery recalls are for battery cells, produced over 5 years, that went in cars.
So it is not a certain batch or certain production year.

So any car could have at least 1 defective cell out of 396.

The chance that most cars got all 396 cells to not have issues and function perfectly is small, by simple nature of the numbers.

Not only that, they also state that even if they can't identify the issue right now, it may still appear in the future. So clearly all cells have a risk.

Some of the 2024 cars seem to have escaped the issues though:

Simple not true. I have a EU one, and it is not affected by the recall. Can charge to 100% when I want - confirmed by my dealer. I have a MY23

Not affected yet. Or are you implying porsche can handle 150.000+ cars going to service at the same time?

Fingers crossed that your car is really one of the luckiest ones in which all 396 cells are perfect, no matter how low the chance of that may be

Even this image states that the problem “was found in SOME OF THE BATTERIES’ HIGH VOLTAGE MODULE.”

You may interpret that the problem is in SOME module in EVERY vehicle, but it will be a personal interpretarion. Specifically, YOURS.

And it is unclear to me how you keep talking about the EU rules and regulations since Switzerland is not even part of it.

I see you take it very personal, and I really do not mean to offend anybody, I actually admire your will to keep proving the point, I just do not understand what motivates you in insisting with everybody that we all have a dramatic and unsolvable problem.

Some of us, unfortunately, are really struggling with this issue, but the vast majority of us are Porsche enthusiasts who, once informed, would rather share the enjoyment other than keep complaining, praying and knocking on wood.

Dude, use some common sense. Don’t you think if the risk of fire was what you are claiming it to be that 1) Porsche would make the same recommendations in the US as they are the EU, and 2) there would be Taycan fireballs rolling down the street. Clearly this is not the problem your overly dramatic persona is presenting since there are no actual cars on catching fire with ANY regularity. Get a grip of yourself. Look at the feedback you have received in this forum. You think you’re right and EVERYONE else are simply uneducated losers? Seems to be your attitude.
You do know porsche can’t make those demands in EU/USA due to regulations?

The cars are recalled in USA also, in groups, as to not overwhelm the service centers. As much is stated in the recalls themselves.

they would be forced to buy back all the cars, as they are not the product that was sold if they would send in Europe the letter they sent me in Switzerland

use some thinking, “dude”

edit; also, the feedback I received is from 2 forum trolls that do not read comments they reply to, so I feel quite at peace with my replys, “dude”

why do you fell so personally attacked, “dude”? Are you employed by porsche, “dude”? Do you have to meet some taycan sale numbers and it’s not happening, “dude”?

Is this your legal position you are providing on behalf of Porsche as to why they may or may not offer different direction in different regions? Don’t you see how you’re making an assumption on what is certainly an extraordinarily complex legal issue. Are you even a layer or legal scholar that you feel qualified to opine on such a matter?
Yes, I know for a fact that porsche cannot tell people legally to not park indoor or to not charge indoor in the European Union, “dude”.

This is the official publicly available information as it pertains to the US:

https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2024/RCLRPT-24V732-8320.PDF

Number of potentially involved Taycans: 27527
Number of faulty cars: 2% (-550 vehicles)

ARB6 recall campaign: charge to 80% for the time being.

ARB7 recall campaign: No restrictions in regard to charging.

We should keep this forum and this very thread to just facts that can be officially verified, the rest is speculation and opinions.

Opinion: Despite the various recalls that have plagued the Taycans, they continue to offer the most driver centric experience out of all currently available EVs. After 10k miles, I have had 0 issues other than the recalls.

Why would it be different in Europe? Porsche just keeps it quiet until the moment they can't anymore....the court case in the USA is very important in this matter. The outcome crucial for all Taycan owners, regardless where they are in the world. Following closely.

I’m not personally worried about the car catching fire. What I am concerned about is holding the bag for this battery after warranty. It is pretty much a certainty the battery pouches will fail it’s just you don’t know when. If this was a 5-10k fix and it goes away okay not worried. The problem is it’s a 50-70k fix.
Exactly this!

Hey all, can we please stop these argumentations and bad language in this thread now? It is not up to the standard that we have kept up very well so far.

Administrator I suggest we close this thread since we have moved away from facts and this bickering does not solve anything.

thanks
