I want to set it in a way that:
1. No matter what time I plug in, I want it to start charging until 90%. Not any more.

2. I don’t want to have to click any buttons when I plug it in. Just charge till 90% and stop. Parents are boomer and they don’t know how to set profile or whatsoever

How can I do it?
I don’t have access to the taycan mobile app,can it be done?

If I sign up for the taycan mobile app can it be done?

timers/profile have a "minimum" charge setting - you can dget what you want by setting the minimum charge to 90% in the vehicle's charging interface.

minimum charge threshold ignores timer/profiles and always charges immediately.

Thank You. Yea this will charge to 90% automatically.
But it will continue to charge to 100% if I leave it plug in. How do I make it stop at 90

Ensure you dont have any timers set. Then configure just one profile with minimum charge set to 90% and charging option set to “optimized charging”. That way it’ll charge until 90% and stop. As soon as you change optimized charging to charging between times or you add a timer, the minimum charging option will behave as minimum charging option instead of max. That’s confusing, but it’s how it is

Set minimum charge to 90% in a profile and set a timer to control the stopping of the charging session. Make this daily recurring.

Quite a debate on the forum whether you need both but personally in 4 years of Taycan (2) ownership the profile only approach does not work for me and so a timer is required. Without a timer and the car left plugged in will (in my experience) lead to 100% (regardless of minimum set).

The profile setting preferred charging period provides a start and end time which logically implies that this will control your charging window without a separate timer but as I've said this has never worked out for me. Give it a try.

Owner's manual suggests it works in general but...

For some reason I thought the minimum (better described as maximum) charge had to be set differently in a timer than the general (non-specific location) profile.

I have my general set to 60% for now as I plan to ride between 40-60% (plug in when getting to 40) for battery longevity despite it being a lease - I'm just a good guy. For trips DC charge up to 75-85% and up to 100% at home before we go (again, only when road tripping).

Still learning...

It’s been discussed as nauseum, but minimum is the minimum. Not the maximum. If it was the maximum, you wouldn’t be able to charge more than its value. But you can. What you can’t do is charge less than its value. Sounds like a minimum to me.

There is no minimum setting for a timer. However, it will charge to 25% as a minimum if there is no profile to say otherwise. But it’s not a setting.

Oh, cmon. If you set charge target in profile alone, it works as MAXIMIUM. As long as you change the setting to charging between times or you add a timer, it starts to work as minimum charge. Just accept that it’s a bug and it works as it works. First try it, then argue

I know how it works. That’s my graphic that I made posted above. For a while, I hosted a web app that calculated charging profiles by settings. I’ve done lots of testing on charging.

And the profile minimum is just as it’s called. A minimum. It’s not a bug. The best way I’ve found to think about the charging setup is as a set of instructions to charge to. If you have a profile minimum on optimized and no timer (and no direct charging), it will stop at the minimum. But not because it’s a maximum. It’s because it has no further instructions. If you add a timer with a higher target charge, change the profile to preferred times, or turn on direct charging, it will charge past the minimum. Basically anything except one very specific setup will charge past the minimum. Many people use that setup. Myself included. That doesn’t make the setting a maximum.

Another way I’ve explained it is this: imagine you’re at a restaurant and you asked the waiter to keep your water glass at least half full. That’s the minimum. You don’t want less than half a glass of water. If it goes below half, you want the waiter to refill it to at least half. Maybe the waiter stops at half, or maybe his boss gave him further instructions to always fill water glasses to 80%. He can fill your glass to 80% because your request for 50% was a minimum. Not a maximum.
