After 5000km I thought a review of my experiences were in order. I’ve broken my feedback down to what I hope are categories that are important to current and potential owners.

Car details:
The car :
  • The car feels like a through Porsche to drive. Nimble and amazing road holding. What makes this car so impressive is it’s ability to cover miles with amazing pace yet around town and in traffic it’s the most comfortable car I have ever driven,
  • Exterior looks will draw attention and they should. It is stunning and I’m very happy with Carmine Red. It’s not a colour I would have considered only only for the initial test car being in this colour.
  • It is a very wide car and I’m glad i optioned the Park assist with surround view. It’s also worth taking a wider radius when travelling around tight corners or corners with high kerbing.
  • The rear seats are roomy and comfortable. I’ve had two people with reduced mobility in mine for 2-3 hr journeys without issue.
  • Boot space is excellent and this car can easily carry 2 x 20kg check in bags and 2 x 10kg cabin bags with a little room left over.
The PCM:
  • I’ve come from a 2017 Audi Q7 system. The graphics in the Taycan are more modern.
  • I like the ability to move icons, around the screen and the split screen view, which is configurable is also a helpful touch.
  • I have had two instances of the PCM going blank (black screen) but the two finger reset resolved the issue on both occasions
Charging:
  • I try to maximise charging from two locations:
    • My 7.2kw Zappi installed at my home. I avail of a Nightsaver (approx .13c/KWh) rate. I limit the majority of my charging to night times through the onboard charging planners Profile and Timer features.
    • At my place of work where I can typically avail of 8-10KW’s per hour free of charge.
  • Longer trips require a little planning but the onboard charging planner handles this effortlessly in Ireland. It’s important though to filter out any charging points of 50KW or below if your looking to avoid long charging stops!
  • It’s also important to program your trip into the planner and allow it direct you to the faster DC chargers to allow for battery preconditioning. It really does make a difference to the amount if time you are stopped taking on power.
  • Where possible I prioritise Ionity charging facilities primarily as I find the service faster but also because of the great rate you get as a Porsche driver.
Tip: It is worth factoring in free charging facilities if your trip involves overnight hotel/Guesthouse stays. I do not rely on these or plan them into my journey but see them as an added bonus that allows me more flexibility later in my journey.

Range:
  • The onboard ‘guessometer’ suggests I get 340km from a 100% charge. This has increased from 310km when i gtook delivery of the car in January.
  • I rely more on the Trip Control report (see below) to monitor my consumption which is slowly improving.
  • It has been cold in Ireland and most of my driving to now has been in 2-10 degree celsius temperatures. I expect this is impacting my current range and i am looking forward to seeing range increase with the temp. increases as we head towards the summer months.
My Spec:
  • I've included each individual item i added to this car below. I've highlighting whether or not i would include in the spec once more as well as some additional notes for that line item.

Solid review and it sounds like you have not experienced Heater failure through the cold weather driving and lucky you for having one and enjoying it. A lot of us waiting on our deliveries impacted by the Heater situation.

I drove some loaners with Partial leather which basically has a lot of vinyl that does not hold up very well in some used examples that I have seen, which surprised me since my 2014 Base Cayenne in Luxor Beige with the same setup was flawless after 6 years. Also, RAS really helps a lot given how wide the Taycan is. I have RAS on the 2020 Cayenne, and it makes big difference at that size/length and the best part of that option is that it works at low speeds and when changing lanes at high speeds.

That’s good to know about the leather. Thank you.
Thankfully no heater issues. In fact, I find the heating of seats, steering wheel and windscreen to be excellent. Much faster than my Audi Q7 which I thought was good

Currently praying my comments above don’t jinx the luxury of heating for me??

I find the heat pump warm the cabin so quick than my e-Tron in this kind of weather (-1 to 3 degree C). I do not need to pre heat before I get in Taycan. It might be the e-Tron is a SUV.
The comfort level is excellent with air suspension to deal with the uneven road surface and bumps. I only have 2000km will be give more update.

I find the same, the cabin warms up very quickly anyway, far quicker than an IC engined car obviously, so preheat is not needed for cabin comfort IME either.
OTOH it does help range and acceleration quite a lot to have had the battery warmed before setting off.
With no preheating my consumption is around 1.2 miles/kWh on short journeys whereas with 15 minutes of preheating it is around 1.7 miles/kWh.

My journey to work is 2.6 miles.
I know, I do occasionally cycle in warm weather despite significantly higher chance of death.
At -5 degrees C I use 2kw to get to work. If I preheat its 1kw so getting in a warm car is essentially free. I find the 5 min preheat when opening car works surprisingly well. I just have to remember to open car through kitchen window 5 mins before going to work.
I don’t need full 30 mins as car is under car port and never frosted up.
Just had a Cayenne loaner. At -5 it took 10 mins and 5 miles seat heating to take the chill out of my arse.
So no good for my micro commute.
Reminded me how good Alcantara is.
If I forget to preheat it’s not like sitting on a stone bench when you get in and I feel warmth in under a mile or about 3 minutes.
Have I mentioned on this forum how good the Alcantara is before?…
Maybe.
After winter with Alcantara I would choose Vegan leather free interior all day long if I didn’t have a GTS.
Like garlic bread, it’s the future.
The plastics are all top quality and the finish is better and smoother without the daft seams running round the whole interior.
Shame the colours are drab!

i like the idea of the vegan interior. I just struggle to justify the price porsche is asking. Same as the leather option.
How can recycled plastic be more expensive than leather? Can someone enlighten me and my ignorance?

100% agree.
The Vegan interior should be the standard interior. A true chance for Porsche to show the way while still offering leather to those that want it.
Even Ferrari are putting some Alcantara made from recycled bottles in their Poorosangy.

The base interior is ok, I was happy in my 4S.
But it truly is a TAINT interior.
As we say up North
‘It ain’t one thing nor t’other’

Too much leather for the vegans with the lack of functionality, too cold, too hot, too slidy etc.

Too little for Team Full Leather.
