The days charging stats:

Today we did 244 km over 5:24 hours, with an average speed of 46 km/h, consuming 24.0 kWh/100km.

While the day started out with very high consumption – it averaged out nicely across the trip. I was impressed with the final figures and the last IONITY charge was really charging for tomorrow's leg.
Great report with very nice pictures @tigerbalm! Hope you will have some nice sunshine as the nature on your route is fantastic to watch. Also hope you will not have to icy roads. Very interested to hear your impressions about the PZero winters as well.

I also note that you seem to have a very low rate for the Ionity charges?? That is below Euro 0.20 per kWh??

Me too. Still forming opinion on the Pirelli's but so far I'm impressed – especially as they are considered a continental winter tyre. Remember, I also have the Porsche Snow Chains to supplement if conditions require.

I too was impressed by the pricing. I'm converting at today's bank rate into Euro from NOK. Here is the Porsche Charging Screen for today:

That is correct! I just checked on the rates that are published in the Porsche Charging service. Really great rates.

Now even more reasons to plan a nice trip in Norway!

Unfortunately – unless I've missed some – thats the last IONITY we'll see for some time. Next one in Sweden.

Robot Room Service

Our room service robot back at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Cologne. You dial 8080 on your room phone and the robot comes to your room. It rings your phone when it is at your door.

It was capable of navigating the elevators in the hotel to reach the different floors.

Clearly not a Porsche Robot then!

Correct, the price in Norway per kWh is 1.85 NOK (approx 0.18 Euro), for Ionity that is. Try to avoid any other chargers, if possible. Even Porsche chargers at Porsche Centers are more expensive, some of them I have been charged up to 5-6 kroner per kWh (aprox 0.5-0.6 Euro).

So to keep it simple for us Taycaners: Only use Ionity in Norway, if within reach ?

As I can see, there are none north of Trondheim . . . very strange: https://ionity.eu/

Roger. I try to stick to local rules – guest in the country and all that – but yeah already noticed that some of the posted limits are really low – and plenty of cameras around. Heck, it will help with energy consumption!
The reason why the limits here in Norway are so low, is that visitors can enjoy the view of our beautiful nature. . . without speeding. Too bad this also applies to us natives Norwegians who are trapped in this cold country, while we freeze our butts off.

Still, Porsches are kind of made to be driven fast, like DNA. So I think we all should have been granted some form of exemption to drive a little faster where and whenever we feel like it.

Thanks for the update. Keep em comming :)

And shortly we were climbing the 1000 meters over the Dovrefjell mountain pass. While the road was icy in some parts it was very navigable and I began to learn how the Taycan and Pirelli winter tyres behaved in the conditions.

While the outside air temperature fell to -9 degrees celsius as we gained height – the sky remained clear, there were no further snowfalls and we even saw a little bit of sun!
Indeed.... In my opinion...this is the best way to experience driving on snowcovered roads....temperature a bit on the minus side...or colder...(10-30 is perfect) ...a car that is on the heavy side...and with a low center of gravity....with warm tires.... You cant beat this for traction in these conditions.

We drove the remaining 20 km into the city centre – hitting a little bit of evening traffic – and pulled up at the Britannia Hotel – our accommodation for tonight. It is valet parking here but they immediately said yes to getting the car charged up.
Ahh...an excellent choice, sir! :) Very nice hotel.

An acquaintance of mine is in charge of the bars in the hotel, and his special barmenu is well known "far and wide" :)

You can't speed in Norway - we can't in CH. Many similarities. Here worst offenders (e.g. very high speed) are fined a % of their annual household income up to 10% + a long driving ban (up to 2 years) + loss of car/impounded. Repeating offenders are not only hit financially, but can also be rewarded with jail time (and in certain cases can't be bailed or convert into a fine).

Now there's a difference though, we are *very* close to DE and ITA... ?

Great trip and lovely bokeh of your Leica. Without Ionity where will you charge?

I have the same winter set up (Pirelli NF0 on same 20" rims) different from summer. Tried them in fresh snow and icy roads around here, found them quite good and planted, good traction too. I personally prefer Alpin 5 (on other cars, could not find them for Taycan), lateral grip seem higher but they also feel "softer" which is not great if you put many kms on them..

Okay, I hereby withdraw my complaint about punitive restrictions here in Norway, and now understand that things are not so bad after all in this country. Even though the speed limit is way too low in my eyes, we are not punished that much compared to others who are worse off. I think there is something called: “The misfortune of others is also a consolation” ?

Before we left Dublin we ordered a number of RFID tokens from a range of popular local networks that the Porsche Charging Service doesn’t support.

Should give us a plenty of on-the-road options.
