Coming winter I’ll go on a Porsche themed road trip with two friends to Stuttgart to celebrate my friends new Macan EV. Funny enough, right after we booked he got the notice that his car is delayed, so probably we’ll go with my Taycan.

To have the ultimate Porsche experience we will stay for the weekend in the Porsche Design Tower hotel and plan our route through one of the Porsche Charging lounges and of course will visit the museum. Unfortunately we couldn’t get tickets for the factory tour. Is there a way we could get tickets / time slot anyway? Can my Porsche Center help with that?

Besides the Porsche and Mercedes museums what are the thing to do for car enthusiast?

Other things to do:
- drive ??
...

On a serious note, my kids and I really enjoyed Technik Museum Speyer (technik-museum.de) (which would kinda be on your way to Stuttgart), and driving the B500/Schwarzwaldhochstrasse - a bit out of the way, though, and probably a bit tricky during wintertime. It's no Tremola/other Alpine passes, but charming in its own way.

All is not necessarily lost regarding a factory tour. I know people who have asked politely at the tour desk in the museum, and Porsche has set up an extra tour of the assembly building just for them.

Motor World and the adjacent V8 hotel, in Stuttgart, are always an interesting stop. I have't been there in years but the motor world side was always a great free way to see a lot of very interesting cars and dealerships. They used to frequently have special events there too.

The BMW and Audi museums aren't too far away either.

I did a similar trip in March and had a great time. My dealer in the US said he couldn't help me get factory tour tickets. I checked the Porsche website every few days and was able to snag 1 spot on the factory tour. Then when we got there, I was able to take the full family of 4 on the tour by asking nicely since they had a few cancellations on the day of and we had a nice tour guide. I believe Mercedes and BMW also offer factory tours and those are easier to book. We enjoyed the Mercedes and BMW museums. Also visited the Deutsches Verkehrszentrum Car Museum in Munich (https://www.munich.travel/en/pois/arts-culture/deutsches-museum-verkehrszentrum).

When I had my Taycan factory tour some other folks didn’t show during our group slot which made room for a few drop ins that were waiting. The 911 tour may be harder to get in.

I stayed last year with my family at the V8 hotel… lots of nice cars to see there.

The Mercedes museum was great… impressive collection and history.

Perfect timing for this question! I'm going to be there with my family January 2-3. The factory will be closed for winter break, but the museum will be open and also MB. I'll be watching this post for ideas. Cheers!

Get the Porsche “roads” app and look for an excellent twisty backroads route through the Black Forest. Navigation was hard (app is poor) but a proper Porsche drive.

We have driven from city center to city center all over Germany with Rick Steve's tourist maps and GPS navigation set to avoid motorways. Have seen many beautiful areas and towns but often ended in city-center pedestrian zones (a new Porsche with tourist plates seems to be forgiven). In two weeks, we drove the entire Mosel Valley, entire Romantic Road, and all of the Castle Road in Germany with no planning in early October - when we felt like eating or sleeping, we looked for a place that looked attractive and stopped (once for three days). Never had a bad meal or night.

If you want to experience probably the only unrestricted hill climb Autobahn, drive the A8 to Munich from Stuttgart.

It's roughly 35 minutes one way. But you have to hit low traffic, everyone is scared and only drives 80 up the hill ?

It's my favourite piece of Autobahn. I don't know really if you could go crazy and go back and forth a few times, not sure if there are good turnaround points.

And you can charge at IONITY Merklingen ! One of the largest IONITY stations. Nice restaurant there too

And while talking about charging : the charging lounge at Bingen am Rhein is on your way to Stuttgart. You should also experience that of your Porsche ev trip.
