IMHO it's a coin-toss. Looks great either way. Personal taste. I'd go either way, but in real life my old SUV has rails and I never use them.

Funny. I owned a 2001 BMW X5 4.4 with rails. Never used them. Owned a 2010 C4 and bought a roof rack. Never used it. I’m going sans rails

I will likely have a set of Seasucker Monkey Bars in the arsenal. It would be nice to have mechanical fastening but I've seen insane weights of glass being handled by suction.

Haha - I actually think that's a reflection of me on the balcony taking the pic, but I could be wrong.

We’ll if you get the rails, the Porsche roofbox sure looks slick and has lots of space inside!

i went to dealer to place order. Originally for a black CT with rail and offroad package. Thinking that it is the right package to get. One almost same in store. Nope. Tried to but can’t feel a thing from it. Switched to sedan. Sales took me to see the colors of some customer cars on lot. Saw a silver CT. loved it vs mmm one at the store. I know color does one thing but i bet that the lack of rail and offroad package also contribute to it’s look. So i switch back to order a CT without offroad package or roof rail.

Not sure you can go wrong either way.

Personally, I went with black roof rails on my Ice Grey CT4s. I also went with the off road package in black. I like how the black offsets all of the ice grey.

Anyway, they are supposed to be loading my car onto a ship today or tomorrow in Emden, so I am hoping to see what my decisions look like in person at the end of June.

The off-road pack and roof rails are an essential part (along with the plastic wheel arch trims) of the lifestyle image that promotes the CT's utility role to expand its sales potential. There's nothing wrong with having those features purely for looks, but having never used the rails on my current Cayenne I'd rather not have them on the Taycan as- previously mentioned in this thread- they add unnecessary height to what is already a fairly substantial side slab of car.
Incidentally- to my surprise- now the ST is available, I've warmed to the CT's wheel arch trims as, at least on lighter body colours, they seem to my eyes to make it look less bulky side-on. Maybe the off-road pack has a similar effect, though it's a significant extra cost for what strikes me as (ironically) a potential dirt magnet.

I like the roof rails... RS6 has them and it still looks amazing

Not a rails fan - agree with others in that the lines of the car look far better without - minimizing aero impact is always better too so a car carrier (I'm now doing Will's design as official carrier doesn't exist!) better than roof mounts - that and accessing roof mounted kit a pain and some day you're going to scratch something up there or worse forget its there and drive under an awning!!! :) Had the rails removed from a prev owned BMW sport wagon and that too transformed the look.

I ordered the rails in anticipation of taking a road trip with four adults. I already owned a roof top carrier and I included the cross bars with the original order. The bars were back ordered when I took delivery of the CT4.. When I saw the reports on the forum about damaged rails caused by the cross bars I decided against getting the bars.

We made the trip in December and managed to get everything in the car by removing the shelf behind the rear seats.

The silver rails look fine especially with the S Aero Wheels. But I regret getting the rails every time I wash the car and have to deal with the water spots in the gap between the glass and the rails.

Personally, I like the way the rails look. I kayak and ski and use roof mount systems for those. I also have a roof box and, while I don’t use it often, when I have needed it it’s been great to have so the rails were a must.
