Agree, live with it. I have made forced drive (sport/sport+) ca. 52-54ml/h and seems run in as my car seems quieter as the time passing by.
I mean did not let to switch the 2nd gear to run in the 1st gear’s mechanics.

Same thing for me since yesterday! After having a little fun in sport+ I calm the game and between 50 and 80km/h this buzz as if a rear window was slightly open. Visit to the dealership at the end of the week!! I have only 3000km. This is not normal at all.

I don’t know if this is something that has always been there and I’m just starting to notice it, or if it’s something that developed recently…. When I’m driving in “Sport” or “Sport Plus” mode, I’m hearing a droning noise at the back axle starting at about 50mph / 80kph and increasing in volume from there… then stops pretty abruptly around 58-60mph. I’m guessing that maybe the transmission is still in 1st gear at that point and the point where the noise stops is when it has upshifted. Is this typical or should I make an appointment to have it checked?
Just started having the same issue. When I’m in sport mode…at speeds between 70 and 120km/h, there is a distinct droning noise from the rear motor (or possibly transmission). If I deactivate sport mode it disappears. Regen has no bearing on this. The same sound can be elicited if I really hammer the accelerator in normal mode. This is because the car drives predominantly in front wheel drive, and when I hammer it the rear motor is forced to kick in. So whatever is droning is related either to the rear motor or the transmission. ALSO…..I found that when I’m just crawling down the driveway at what would be an idle speed, when I activate and deactivate sport mode, a distinct “clunk” can be heard and felt, originating from the rear. The engagement and disengagement of the rear motor is not happening smoothly. Car has 78000km on it. It’s been at the shop for 4 weeks now. Initially they returned it after 2 weeks stating it was resolved thanks to a software remap for the rear motor. But the second I got in and drove it, it was apparent it was not solved. Truth is, they didn’t really know what they were looking for. So when they came to pick it up again, I showed the valet. When it got to Porsche they admitted they still weren’t sure what to listen to for a couple days until they finally had the valet show them. Now they are investigating transmission and rear motor to isolate the sound, and apparently they will be replacing one or both. If anyone is interested I could post a video of the sounds. Just let me know.

It’s not engaging or disengaging of the rear motor but it’s the downshifting from second to first. The whining noise you hear when in ether sport or sport plus mode is from the first gear. In normal mode, the car starts and maintains second gear unless you punch it (below ~56 MPH) then it downshifts so that’s when the noise appears.

That’s interesting. So it’s a transmission issue then?

Issue with the first gear. Search on here and you’ll find loads of threads on them with no resolution. I drive in normal mode 99% of the time after the newness wore off after the first month of ownership so I don’t ever hear the noise

My car is now not shifting out of first gear in sport mode at 49 mph like it used to. Just stays in first now and starts to whine over about 55mph.

Only a temporary one because the noise came back with the new one
Correct. Noise came back for me after ~800 miles after replacement drive unit.

isn't it expected behaviour in sport mode to stay in 1st gear until you drive >60mph??!
