What's everyone doing with the drainage checks on these services?
I'm being quoted £1200 with checks, £550 without (Silverstone).

Seems like plenty of the quotes people are getting from other dealers don't even mention drainage checks.

I don't want to be a tight-arse about this on a £125K car.. but if the checks aren't mandatory and car the car under warranty I'm struggling to see why I should be paying for them, regardless of what the service guy says I might be liable for.

The drainage check is an integral step of the 2 year service - not an option to add separately.

The service including the drainage checks, brake fluid replacement, pollen filter replacement has a standard Porsche price of around £720 including VAT.

Total service time in terms of labour - 2.25 hrs.(£180/ HR)

Suggest phoning other dealerships to get pricing then email Porsche UK cc'ing Silverstone and advise of their profiteering antics.

That is one of the tricks Porsche engage in to get extra revenue for service.

I challenged my Service guys and said I did not even know I had a Sunroof, could they please show me how it operates? They said yes and we went to the car and they looked for it. The service advisor quickly went inside, red in the face, and amended the quote with a few hundred Euros. And apologised!

The worst thing he said was that the service codes and items had been pulled from the official Porsche France site!

Panoramic roof which has inserts for roof bars and can collect water.

I would estimate 90%+ have this option.

At least on Silverstone's service manager's laptop - the drainage check was a tickbox on his electronic service form. He unticked it and it dropped from £1200 to £550. And this wasn't a made-up figure off the top of the guy's head - I saw it on the laptop screen in front of me.

I called Swindon (where I've got a GTS ST on order) and they said £1100 for my car.

So I've no idea what's going on with these service prices, but it does seem to be a *lot* of variation.

Portsmouth came back and broke down the drainage checks for me.

They quoted for the worst case but stated that given they check each drain, if additional work isn't required (eg, it doesn't need clearing) that the cost would reduce proportionally.

Cynic in me thinks the majority will just charge you the tick box amount regardless. Unless you query before hand, and even then...
