So it is the ceo of Porsche then for uk to name in small claims case.

Find his email on ceoemail.com

I think your case needs to focus on consumer rights act and if scuffing an alloy causes such bad damage to the steering system of a Porsche the car clearly isn’t of reasonable quality.

Sue them. I would love for porsche to recall all 150k taycans because they can’t endure wheels to be scratched at speeds of 1-3km /h on a bordure.

If they can prove that the damage was caused by the scratch, all 150k cars will be deemed unsafe for traffic use in Europe.

This is Porsche taking the relatively new ‘outside influence‘ to an extreme in this case. Now it is logged with them it is no good having wheel refurbished and re-presenting so guess small claims court needs to be threatened.

I’m still not sure it’s got to a real adult yet to be honest. The service centre guys were pretty immature and the case handler is quite junior so I’m hoping with my ramping up of the process someone with authority can step in and do the right thing.

im very happy to go small claims but would rather Porsche do the right thing. Its really put me off the brand going forward if they try to duck out of warranty for a minor scratch on an alloy.

Porsche have confirmed it’s not warrantable in their opinion so I’m onto the next stage. I did notice the scuff looks worse in bright sunlight but it’s still very minor in my opinion but wanted to add a fresh picture to make sure I’m not going mad.

the Leicester centre ere now saying they did get a real error code so I’ve asked for that in writing and that Roma ung the steering g rack will resolve the issue. That is a change from immutable error they told me before.

does anyone have experience with the ombudsman? Or shall I just go with small claims court?

again all opinions welcomed and thanks again.

I still find it incredulous.

Porsche GmbH next I guess.

Call them, copy the mothership and note that before you go to small claims, you'd like to give them one last opportunity to deal with it properly. Ask them to explain in detail how such a minor scuff to a wheel can cause damage to a steering rack and how that stacks up against the cost of the car from a company that prides itself on its engineering and away you go.

What is the error code and which ECU is throwing it?

Also, for the repair, I would insist on replaced parts, even if you just plan to throw them away, insist on them showing you which part was mechanically damaged.

an update

I lost patience and emailed the CEO in the UK. This got an immediate reaction and an “executive” case handler is looking at my complaint and contact has been frequent.

today they came back with an offer to contribute to the repair, meaning ill need to pay £1.8k.

I’ve responded stating that whilst we are moving in the right direction that I’m not expecting to pay anything for an obvious warranty issue. I still do not have confirmation of the error code, confirmation replacing the rack will resolve my issue and that anybody has looked at the photos of the scuffing and concluded that it could cause a steering rack replacement, other than the Leicester centre.

long story short, the saga continues. I’ve asked for a final position so I can progress into the ombudsman and small claims court.

the car still drives perfectly with no noticeable handling difference or issue.

That's yet another terrible, terrible response. I used to work in a senior management customer service role for a company, reporting to C-level, and cannot believe a global brand as massive as Porsche can get this so very wrong, so many times at so many levels. Truly shocking processes and service.

In just 4 months of ownership, I've seen enough to make me think twice before purchasing a Porsche product ever again.

I hope you don't have to spend much more time on this before someone senior sees this and tells you they will sort everything immediately free of charge and provide you with some products/services for having to go through this ridiculous saga.

And then people be like “porsche always does right by their customers”

maybe 15 years ago

Just send the scuff pictures to this executive and ask him if porsche are designed to fail when seeing a street corner ?

Very sad to read this example.
Getting the impression, Porsche-GB more often seems to be launching problems.
So far had very positive results on guarantee-issues here in Germany.

any further updates from HQ/CEO? This is totally maddening and frankly pathetic excuse as to not fix something under warranty. I'd be demanding that an independant 3rd party examined it and detirmines if something which could cause a graze like that on your car could at all possibly destroy the steering rack.
