I was the same, a car with an 80+K price tag last August only worth 28K according to WBAC !
Well, I bought 3 years warranty and breakdown starting from the middle of this month when the existing one expires! I,ll have a look at its worth in three years time! where would you get a car like a Taycan for 28K !!
That's the route I will be taking when mine hits 3 years in August.

I think used prices will firm up if the public start to understand EVs are not the Devils work. Especially the cheap running costs. It could be quite a rapid turnaround imo.

Something like a surge in oil price (with falling electricity costs) could start to shift the balance.

Unfortunately cheap running costs do not factor in for the Taycan. It’s the exact opposite.

My hope is for fewer repair costs overall than ICE, knowing full well that certain repairs will also be prohibitively expensive.

I would also have thought that it should be considerably cheaper to service a Taycan than an ICE car.

But no.
I serviced a BMW M5 today with full oil change, micro filter change for cabin, full brake fluid change, plus new wiper blades. Including cleaning of aircon and checking other oils and fluids. 830 Euros at a BMW dealer.
That is very close to the price I paid for my Taycan 2 year service!

Definitely seeing the Porsche aervice tax, similar to the Audi RS tax, on maintenence. I meant that I hope fewer parts break or wear out over its life than in a typical ICE. Only time will tell as these drop out of warranty.

Hoping.....

A bit mad but seeing these prices is tempting me to an ST GTS despite only having had my CT4 5 months and it also suffering depreciation. I love the car as well.

But I can’t stop looking. Aaagh.

Might be wishful thinking, but I think it's in Porsche's best interest to support second hand values as it ultimately affects the demand for new models.

And given the overall company transition to EV, they won't have combustion engines supporting their bottom line... So how could do they do this:

1. Offer extended warranties / servicing at attractive prices
2. Make software updates and improvements available to Gen 1/previous models
3. Cheaper finance packages for used models

Anything else....

I agree - but doubt this crosses their mind.

I think the thought process is to just keep pioneering and engineering great drivers cars that cost a lot of money to buy. And people who can afford them will continue to buy the latest model frequently and maintain them at a great cost.

The business model isn't great for someone like me at this price point (a bottom feeder ?)

So far my experience hasn’t been that nice. Luckily everything has been covered by warranty though. Heck the six year service on this vehicle is about 5k which is just ludicrous.

The government could also help support if they provided the same tax relief as purchasing new. Would also be better for the environment

That’s exactly what we need is independents. However I can’t seem to find any that will touch the electric cars.

It is expensive to own from new but cheap to keep it for a while. I keep good car for long unless it is a problematic one. My advise is do not buy a luxury car if you can't afford this type of depreciation.
I budgeted for Panamera type depreciation. But don’t plan to sell for six years after that it doesn’t matter. After dealer demonstrator discount and then uk tax break mine owes me less than 60% of list price so if I get say 20% back after six years I’ll be happy. Swapping and changing any luxury car is expensive. Covid frenzy meant unrealistic prices for a few months that always looked like an aberration so a few unlucky folk might have been duped. Even 911’s aren’t holding up. About time too.
