What is A/C?

The climate settings screen on the Taycan has an option for "A/C", which can be turned on or off. Anyone know what that is? In other cars I've had, there was something similar, used to tell the car that you wanted cooling as opposed to heating. But when A/C is on in my Taycan, warm air still seems to be coming from the vents. And if I turn it off, it gets turned back on the next time I start the car.

its the Air Conditioning. It runs all the time unless you turn it off.

When you have A/C on when heating, what you're getting is dehumidification from the heat pump. @John89 is exactly correct, turning that off will increase range; it just might get a little "steamy" inside the vehicle under some conditions.

I've always run cars on eco unless it is really hot outside. You save quite a bit on fuel and in the Taycans case battery.

Check your pre-heat/ cooling settings as these are used when you unlock the car.

It can also be the comfort access with your key settings (have not tried in Taycan as ours is set to arrive around May 1). You can try programming the key without the climate control on and see if that does the trick.

In my 992, my key is set to climate control on, 69*, my wife's key is set to climate control off.

Most cars nowadays have the AC on and the temperature is controlled independently of it. The idea is to keep the air inside the car dry so windows don't fog up. You would appreciate this the most on a rainy day (at any temperature short of oven).

Yes, I would suspect that it always resets, since driving in that mode is generally done by most people on an exception basis. My Audi is the same.

Does anyone know how quickly the battery discharges when AC is on but car is at a standstill? For instance, stuck on freeway for several hours because of an accident. My Taycan should be here this week and I already have several hundred questions about it for the dealer. Hope the question isn’t too bad. ?

Well depending on conditions the car may draw 0.5 to 1.5 KW/Hour for air con. So let’s say you have 70 KWHr left, that is a good 50-100 hours.
