Windshield Replacement Cost

When I bought my Taycan, it was delivered via a third-party company. A crack covering a third of the windshield was delivered with it, as well. After putting in a claim, I sent them a quote from Porsche San Diego. Luckily, they sent a check the quote which is $4k and some change.

I'm just curious: how much is the windshield replacement in your area?

I just had mine replaced when the roof glass was, it was about $2k, but last time it was about $2600 I think. Both times Porsche covered it so not sure if that was list or some line item they do. (Once with CPO inspection, and once through their protection plan).

both times where outsourced by Porsche MSP.

Haven’t noticed anything with my cell phone. I do know it didn’t read my inerstate pass through the windshield. Had to hold it outside the window when I drove by.

It reads mine just fine. You have to keep it in the area near the rear view mirror with all the black dots.

I got mine replaced on my 2023 a few weeks ago at the dealer.

The total cost (including calibration) was $3738.70.

This is good to know. This is my first service appointment, and is also a good indicator of how overpriced my local stealership actually is (Porsche San Diego).

When it was outsourced, did you mean they had you drop your car off somewhere else or did they have to order the glass locally?

They ordered the glass, but the shop that did my roof installed the glass. I think that body shop sent someone over to get the car from them.
The first time they just had a glass installer do it at the dealer I think.
All the calibration was done at the dealer.

That kinda sounds like what the dealer will be doing to my car. No issues? Especially with the calibration?

My windshield was also hit by a small stone on the highway, and at that time Porsche quoted about $4,000, including camera calibration.

I'm local San Diego and just got a nasty rock chip. Did you get windshield replaced at SD Porsche?

The repair I had done on the chip this morning isn't even close to removing it and I think the windshield might need to be replaced, especially with my OCD on this car.

Yes, I went with them. Once the glass they ordered came in, they called me. I dropped off my car and it took 2 days.

Does that glass really impact cell signal?

It definitely impedes radar detectors and tolltags.
