Dear folks....

I can't find any reviews on rear CT 4+1 passenger space, except for those based on a single 'expert' trying the seats one at a time. I also had to try rear space solo on my test drive.

I would only carry 3 adult rear seat passengers very occasionally and only for shortish trips...

The rear foot space is doable for each side seat passenger - but not sure if 3 feet would fit (2 from a side seat passenger - plus 1 from the centre seat passenger). It was difficult to be sure when I looked.

Has anyone had 3 adults in the back of a 4+1 CT? Do their feet fit? OK for short trips?

Cheers

IMO, 3 adults - no way.
You have to know that there’s no free space for legs in the middle.

Even for two might be tough if a driver is taller… for instance, no adult can seat behind me.
I’d say it‘s ok for three teenage kids, if no one is member of basketball team ;)

Thanks B - I am OK for the 2 outer seats - I am 6' 1" and I got in the rear OK behind a front seat set for me.... would be Ok for short trips. My daughter (5'6") would have been favourite for the middle seat.

I can't try this with my family until next spring year - but looks like I will have to check properly before committing to my 2023 delivery slot. Thanks for advice.

doesent matter who can fit the extra seat, buy the 4+1 to avoid the god awful plastic tray looking like something taken out of a 1998 golf, that you get, if you don’t.

Thanks Steen - But it's not a question of whether to choose the 4+1 option - that's a given and already specced!

It's whether I can act as taxi for short runs to the pub etc. when we visit the kids, or between their houses etc. (30 miles).

If I can't carry 5, even for short runs - it would be a serious shortfall. Cheers.

Always got put in the boot when I was a kid, or hung from the roof of the land rover in potato sacks. I worry about how spoilt todays youth is with all this middle seat crap, and if your giving someone a lift from the pub they should just be thankful lying for the floor…..

It's hard for me to think of a use case for any situation that all 3 seats are usable. It's not so much about the added head room in the CT as it is the seat width for the middle person. Honestly, aesthetics are the only reason I see to add the extra seat.

If you have smaller kids, they sit in a booster for years, and those things are wide, so even a gaggle of 7 or 8 year olds will be a tough squeeze. By the time they weigh enough to get out of those boosters, they're also too big to sit comfortably back there. Maybe some tiny 12 year olds would be okay?

3 adults is just a nonstarter. If you want your adult friends and family to hate you, sit them back there.

I thought the logic is that they should go buy their own if they dont like it back there :p

My understanding is you would only want to try & cram in 3 normal sized adults on that rear bench if you hate them and want to make them all miserable, especially the one in the middle.

That's like for 40 min ride? No problem, particularly if you have somebody smaller for the middle.

2023 slot???
you meant 2022, right?
btw: my wife is 5’6” and she can sit in the middle for short drives…there’s enough space to the roof, but it’s definitelly not comfortable for legs.
i‘m 6’6” and i can sit behind passenger’s seat as set for my wife…

You can use the 4+1, even to bring the kids to school.
adults with kids, is also possible, because they want to sit in in taycan.
it’s like in a 911 cabrio, they want to drive along even with the knees around their ears?
from time to time i bring the kids to school in the 356, it’s possible.

Thanks B -that gives me a little hope.

I have booked another test drive on Wednesday to try and suss it out with the wifey - the salesperson can;t help because of Covid - was trying to avoid that since my wife is disabled and it's a palaver for her to clamber about. She is only 5'0" -daughter 5'6" son and son in law 5'9" & 5'10" I am 6'1"

It is 2023 (no specified month) - I only booked the slot a week ago for a turbo CT. Could have got a 4S for December 2022 - but thought I would hang on for 2023 and that gave me a Turbo slot..

cheers

Thanks Alex - that was exactly my thinking - very rare occasion I carry 5 - and they don't mind squeezing in - but if it was totally impossible - then I would have to rethink

Much appreciated.
