People, .....take a good look at the pics which Carbuzz is using:
....
Indeed, it's just a hoax imho.
You can order the soundbar HERE
Hmmm...you might be on to something there. I must admit that it's such a plausible thing for Porsche to do that I hadn't looked too closely at the pictures. I still wouldn't be surprised if Porsche announces the Porsche Acoustic Reproduction Pipe (PARP).
Anyway, I think that most of my comments in this thread apply equally to the very real Porsche Electronic Sport Sound. This old man might just have been yelling at the wrong cloud.

A lot of these guys are quite old! I think that would be classed as premeditated! :CWL:
Now now, I'm one of those older guys. One of my first cars was a 1964 Triumph Spitfire 4 when I was in High School. My Taycan is a retirement gift ? I did think about a 911, but was looking for a bit more comfort and the idea of a Porsche EV appealed to me. Hey, maybe if/when I give up on riding my MC I'll get an old Spitfire to tinker with. Or maybe not, I'm much more into driving than tinkering these days.

Oh yeah 100% the Taycan will be more comfy day to day than a 911 so good choice for that. My 911 is still in project build phase. She's 52 years old now so a few years older than me. She's a keeper so I'll hopefully still have her when I retire.

A spitfire hey? My English teacher in senior school (high-school) had a convertible spitfire in British racing Green. Was a beautiful thing. I nearly bought an MGB GT about 20 years ago. Was lovely. But a house purchase came first so it never happened.

Definitely buy a car to tinker with! I've been out in my garage most of today, sanding and grinding. Great fun!

I was greatly unimpressed by the "Electric sport sound", and only used it once. Am gonna go against the stream, however, and would embrace the ability to toggle some pure flat six sound

What I've noticed is that people who have had experience with sports cars/Porsches in the past seem to generally be against the fake sport sound because it sounds like a fake engine rev/exhaust note, which they know and love. Personally, this is my first Porsche, so I've never experienced those types of sounds first hand, much less driving a car which is producing them. I enjoy the futuristic spaceship throatiness for this reason.

There may be some truth to this.

Prior to the TTS, I drove various 911 Turbos/S's exclusively for twenty years. It's not that I had a problem with the 911's sound per se. It was loud. People made jokes about how they could hear me coming a mile away, etc. The noise would often set off nearby car alarms, which was frustrating. It didn't really bother me though; I just assumed the loud sound was the price one had to pay for such awesome performance. It was a worthwhile trade in my book.

It's little wonder then that I really really appreciate the quiet of an EV. The fact that one can have the quiet of an EV with the performance of a 911 Turbo S is truly amazing to me. That one would intentionally make it louder is a real headscratcher.

It's like those hipsters who claim to like listening to old phonograph records instead of digital media because the audible scratches and imperfections make the music seem more "authentic"... It's like, dude, take off your fedora and be reasonable for a moment.

Another thing I was thinking was that I'm coming from driving a Model S for 3 years, which was my first EV. In some sense, I'm used to an EV being fast while being silent. Getting some audible emotional response with the Taycan was a fun and interesting change of pace.

I'm sure many owners here are driving their first EVs, and so for them, the novelty is in the silence. It's sort of the opposite for me :)

Another point of reference, I've been driving Tesla Model S since 2013, still enjoy the silence, looking forward to Taycan having even less noise than any of the 4 Model S's I've had so far.

Seriously. Silence is golden.

The first thing I did when setting up Individual mode was to nix that silly Sport Sound.

I was kind of embarrassed for Porsche, that they'd introduce such a silly gimmick, and even make it the default in Sport Plus mode. That one would design a naturally quiet electric car to generate an irritating, fake vacuum cleaner sound is perplexing enough -- but to double down and make it louder and imitate the sound of an old-school ICE vehicle? That's just plain retarded.

Maybe it's a cultural thing. In the US, I haven't met a single Taycan owner who uses the fake noise, nor have I had a single passenger who thought it was anything other than a strange, ill-conceived gimmick. That said, at the end of the day, as long as there's a way to turn it off and keep it off, that's all that counts. :)
Before you rush to conclusions. All high quality sport car makers (Germans, Italians) have the sport sound in their cars but some car owners don't know this.

To me my Taycan Turbo S sounds awesome with that real electrical motor sound amplified. It's a head turner ?

Loud sound is absolutely necessary if the goal of buying a car is to turn heads. The louder and more obnoxious, the more heads it will turn. Reminds me of an older gentlemen who lives somewhere in my neighborhood who bought a convertible Ferrari, then every sunny weekend drove around the neighborhood, top down, in first gear (loudest), while all decked-out in Ferrari gear (jacket, hat, sunglasses, etc). Definitely turned people's heads - you could hear him a mile away.

Sounds like it’s looped through a flange or chorus pedal. ?

Actually, thinking about it now, they should give us an effects loop so I can add a wah pedal. At least then my left foot would have something to do.

I’ve never understood that. I feel like wearing that kind of stuff makes you look like you either work there or can’t afford their cars (so bought apparel instead).

I love Porsche…but you won’t catch me in any hat, shirt, jacket, watch, bag, etc…

Yeah, similar situation with the Harley motorcycle crowd in some cities. It's just so cringeworthy to watch because they're clearly begging for attention, but they've somehow convinced themselves that they look cool while doing it.

You know who I hold responsible for this pseudo-cool madness? Fonzi, from "Happy Days."

It's funny. In twenty years, I've never seen a single customer buying any of the overpriced Porsche jackets, watches, etc. here at the San Diego dealership.

But if you head north to South Coast mall in Costa Mesa, there are plenty of people milling about in the Porsche store wanting to buy this stuff. I don't think Porsche owners are really into the logo'd gadgets and apparel at all. But there's another demographic that is -- just can't quite wrap my head around who they are.
