Yesterday I stopped by a nearby EA station with a 350 kw charger to try out fast-charging on my 2022 4S. I had already signed up for the charging plan in my My Porsche account online prior to leaving for the station and it said it was active and expires in December 2022.

When I arrived at the station and plugged in, charging did not start on its own. I got the screen with "Manual/Member" tabs at the top on the charger. I opened the Charging NA app and tried to initiate the charge from there. I found the station and it seemed to be communicating with the app but then after a period of time the app said there was an "Unexpected Error" and charging did not start. I tried several times and I did also try another charger but the same problem happened each time.

I then called the support number for EA and they were able to start the charging session relatively easily and it worked well. With a 45% SOC I was able to achieve as high as 210 kW of charging speed before it began to taper off to around 160 kW above 50% SOC. I charged up to 95% and headed home without further issues.

I'm hoping that the reason I couldn't initiate the charge myself was that my car is currently having connectivity issues with a red blinking SOS light and inability to login into the car with my Porsche ID. Maybe once this is resolved it will work properly.

do you have the onboard 19.2 kw charger? if yes it is possible that the car was delivered without a software patch that eliminates this error.

I have the 19.2 kw charger but that issue was supposed to be resolved from the factory on the 2022 model and furthermore, that problem only impacted Plug and Charge but people have still been able to initiate the charge from the app.

not quite right.
in addition to plug and charge problems the fix corrected the issue that caused the car and the charger to not communicate properly to initiate a charge.
when that communication failed it app generated the message that appeared on your app. I would consult with your service advisor. I am sorry but I cannot provide the numbers for this fix but root around the forums it can be found

Since I have a red flashing SOS light, my understanding is that means the car isn't communicating properly with the cell network. My SA also confirmed that free charging won't work if my car isn't logged in with my Connect ID.

I am familiar with the update for 2021 cars with this problem but Porsche was pretty clear that it was fixed on 2022 cars. I understand the problem might persist however. I will report back once I get connected with my Connect ID.

My 2022 4S is waiting at the port for a software update. It has the 19kW converter. I wonder if the update is for this charging issue; although, I would assume that it would have been done properly at the factory before shipping.

I have no clue as to a flashing SOS light and the car's connection to a cellular network is not part of the charging equation. It appears that if you are not connected via both the porsche app and the charging NA app. if not properly set up with those aps the car is unable to connect with the EA charger.
you could get the EA app and set up a paid account and see if that works.

I'm sure a paid account would work. I think that the Porsche Connect Id needs to be logged in on the car for you to get free charging. That's what my SA told me. I'm not currently able to do that.

I just got back from a road trip to Orlando, from North Georgia, and surprisingly my charging at EA went much better than expected.

I'm having login problems (even though I have a green SOS light) so I'm logged in as a guest but it never affected my plug n' charge.

Charged a total of 10 times with only one issue (2 x 350kws weren't working and had to use the 150). Plug n' charge worked every time. This car charges like a beast. Went 5% to 75% in only 20 minutes. Maxed out at 266kW during one session.

Don‘t think so. We did some testing yesterday at 2 EA charging sites with our new MY22 CT4., both times plug n charge did not work, payment denied. The porsche connect account looks good. We were able to activate the session with the Charging NA app. I think there’s something up with our PCM and Porsche connect, the privacy settings for PC are greyed out, if you click on it, an error message pops up saying the Porsche connect contact cannot be accessed at this time.

I think it all goes back to when we picke dup the car, we had a hell of time trying to get logged in.

Do you see plug and charge option in your PCM? My 22 CT4 does not list the option for some odd reason. I plan to try and charge at EA station to see what happens
