First post here. Just got my '22 Taycan CT over the US Thanksgiving holiday. September build date for my car. This backup camera is the worst backup camera I've ever seen. Like others here I've owned and driven numerous cars over the past 30 years and the Taycan backup camera is unbelievable bad. Distorted, fish eye effect, completely unacceptable for any modern car.

Personally I thought the cameras on the two taycans I’d taken out were absolutely awful, but picked up my MY2022 yesterday and I’m pleasantly surprised that it seems better than the previous 2.

Not amazing (the surround view option is though), but definitely better than I’d experienced before!!

I have a MY 2021, and while not perfect, the surround/back up camera combo always seemed OK -- until last night when I had to back into a very tight spot, in a dark parking lot, in the rain. Had to give up on instruments and "use the force" to dock the beast!

I feel like the overhead view of the car is great. Easily shows curbs and parking lot lines. Now the rear view with the red guidelines has a strange view and definitely makes me check multiple times over my shoulder.

I do like the front camera when pulling in a spot as it gives the audio warning and shows the front valance and how close you are to the curb or parking stop.

I got an OTA update for surround view the other day, along with about 10 others.

I never had a complaint about the quality, and I honestly can't tell if it changed much, but I have noticed the view where you drag around to do a 360 became much smoother and quicker. YMMV.

Just to add to the comments. The back up camera is for me useless. I back in using the side mirrors - if only I could file a money cashback for this poorly designed gadget.

Just took delivery of my 4S on Monday and love everything about it apart from the hilariously bad reverse camera and 360 view. i suspect it is a software/stitching issue as the cameras seem to be of reasonably good quality.
So is there a Solution to the crappy back up Camera on the Taycan?

I had the big update done a couple of weeks ago (4S+ MY21) and posted a note on forum with the immediate observations, one of which is a huge improvement in the display from the reversing camera - colour, size, definition. Clearly it was a software issue, not the lens itself. There are also improvements in the Park Assist functionality (warning symbols on display).

I am getting mine back today around noon, and this is the biggest ticket from the update that I am looking forward to. I hope I won't be disappointed.

Really hope so as that was one of the two annoying things I noticed on my test drive (which is now over a year ago!). The other one was how the car did not engage auto hold automatically when for example I pulled up at a roundabout. I since discovered on here that you have to press hard on the brake pedal to engage it...but I am used to coming to a stop, taking my foot of the brake and not having the car lurch forward! I am sure I will adjust though once my car finally arrives.

You don't have to press hard - just a little pressure will do.

Anti-roll forward and backwards is also a feature, the sensitivity of which can be adjusted within the PCM.

This automatically kicks in on a decline or incline.

I'd love to be able to adjust Hold, but when I looked in the Taycan manual, there was no reference to adjustments. Can you give me an idea where to find the adjustment in the PCM?

Brake Assistance (collision) - late, early, very early etc. Under Assistance Systems (Vehicle).

This may not achieve what you are after but I found it useful for entering my garage which has a sloped driveway and a lipped threshold which would cause the car to brake if it thought it was going to roll backwards.
